I knew it was only a matter of time. The Christian will warm up to you for a time … but then when it’s evident you will not convert to their religion, the anger starts ripping.Stop baiting him!!! It’s not well done of you. And stop your stereotyping. It’s annoying. And If you think you’re better than Christians then start acting it. Because right now all I’m getting from this post, is a man bent on ridiculing others.
Are you trying to mock me? Because I have been very patient and kind with you (and not because I wanted to convert you) but because I’m a sincere person, nor do I recall lying to you either. I wonder how much of what you’ve said here is the truth.I knew it was only a matter of time. I guess if you want peace & love … better off being a hippie
anyway … you’all have fun ripping each other apart, nice knowing you (well, not really)
So, is that it humble, you’re gonna run, just because I got a bit angry, even though , you were stereotyping Christians. And stop insisting that I was trying to convert you, I was only trying to soften your stance a little and hope that that little seed would result into something bigger (and no, that is not the same has trying to convert you). I could not possibly convert you to “my religion”, because only grace can do that (you should know you studied theology). Can you explain apart from being bored on your business trip, why you chose this forum to talk about religion and the like, when you could have chosen thousands of other forums? Please do respond. God bless.I knew it was only a matter of time. The Christian will warm up to you for a time … but then when it’s evident you will not convert to their religion, the anger starts ripping.

I was refering to this, when I stated that you were stereotyping: “Kill the heretics, burn em alive, and praise god!!! What lunacy …”well, it’s not stereotyping when you all believe essentially the same thing. If I were to say all Christians believe in fairy tale, and I believe the bible to be a fairy tale … that’s not stereotyping is it?
ahhh … but I wasn’t ascribing that attitude to all Christians, just some (of your more zealous compatriots). So now that I’ve offered clarity on my earlier statement … wouldn’t you agree it was accurate? After all, clearly wanting to kill anyone is the product of either anger or insanity. Even wanting to silence people is generally the result of a lack of confidence in ones own position (or lack of intellectual fortitude, and consequently frustration).I was refering to this, when I stated that you were stereotyping: “Kill the heretics, burn em alive, and praise god!!! I have never heard a Christian say such a thing, but maybe I’m too shelteredahhh … but I wasn’t ascribing that attitude to all Christians, just some (of your more zealous compatriots). Even a professional soldier doesn’t want to kill anyone. If he or she must then they must out of duty to both their country and perhaps more importantly their buddies. However, the Army doesn’t want or need murderers or the sadistic in its ranks. They only make its job more complicated.
I just realized you said “attitude”, while I was reflecting more on the words you used. But I guess the answer is still somewhat the same, I realize however, that such people exist, especially those who harbour very anti-catholic sentiments. But then again, there are some hard core atheists who I would consider very mean and arrogant, I think Richard Dawkins falls into that category. Fundamentalists can be found in all groups, including your “rational” loving atheists.I have never heard a Christian say such a thing, but maybe I’m too sheltered, have you? And if the answer to that question is a yes, well then, he is not acting in a christian manner, that is a horrible thing to say. I know a few famous “Christians” like that Phelps guy that are bigoted and a little nutty, but these kinds of Christians I would think were rare. Also, why did you use that particular remark with prodigalson (I can’t remember exactly what he said to you)? I recall you kinda of baiting him, although I admit he was not too welcoming in his response to you. By the way, what was your job in Iraq? Did you stay very long?
I am so sorry you had to experience this. My naive son joined on his 18th birthday, was not going to tell me for he knows I am a pacifist and I know that going to ‘fight a war’ will only bring harm to him and all involved. But he will be in the marines as of August of this year. My prayer is that he will not take the life of another human. I trust, because of my dreams, that he will return alive and intact wherever he is sent, but his spirit will not be the same. He returned home to me seeking peace and healing of his soul in my dream…which I had before he told me his plans. In Iraq I was responsible for searching vehicles and indigenous personnel (searching for weapons and other contraband). I was also responsible for detaining bad guys (or dispensing with them in other ways if they were less than cooperative). Not a fun job to say the least. I also did convoy security for a period, which was an even uglier job (I was there for around 15 months). I also did guard duty (while the most menial and physically taxing of all my jobs … it was also the least violent so I viewed it as sort a vacation).
Needless to say I seen a lot of things no human being should ever have to see (and if logic, not superstition, ruled the world … no human being would ever see)!
I’m not a pacifist (and frankly I have little respect for pacifists … I think it’s just an elaborate way to frame cowardice).I am so sorry you had to experience this. How did this effect you on a soul level?
I hope that such memories can be replaced by those which will bring you joy and peace. I am forever grateful for people such as yourself who put themselves in harms way for our security. I’m glad you’re not there anymore though. God bless you humble. In Iraq I was responsible for searching vehicles and indigenous personnel (searching for weapons and other contraband). Humble, you were obviously angry when you wrote this.I’m not a pacifist (and frankly I have little respect for pacifists … I think it’s just an elaborate way to frame cowardice).
My soul … I’m an atheist, we don’t believe in souls, or devils, or angels, or any such nonsense. As far as being a bad experience, I guess better me than someone like you huh? I never went crazy, seen plenty of bad stuff, and learned to appreciate the good ol’ USA a whole lot more. Beyond that … I’m not that much different than who I was before deploying.
As for your son … I’m glad he chose to ignore your advice and to be a man and fight for his country. Freedom isn’t free; and if all the good people were like you … this world would be ran by tyrants.
I meant every word I said. Pacifists are cowards and poor Americans … maybe they can move north (and hug the trees in Canada; I hear there’s plenty up thereHumble, you were obviously angry when you wrote this.
Hey, this is the land of lumberjacks, you know, strapping manly men!!! Ok I lied. :crying:I meant every word I said. Pacifists are cowards and poor Americans … maybe they can move north (and hug the trees in Canada; I hear there’s plenty up there).
I missed the crying smiley … but yeah I guess you guys do have a bunch of lumber jacks up there huh? I can assure you my slightly younger friend … the allure is only physical (nothing wrong with that I guess, for a few months). Then you have talk over morning coffee, and duh gets boring after a whileHey, this is the land of lumberjacks, you know, strapping manly men!!! Ok I lied. :crying:![]()
Were you hurt during your time in Iraq? I myself bear scars from my sickness, I have two 8 to 9 inches long scars around my shoulderblades and sides and tiny other scars where they had to insert tubes (between my ribs, thank you very much) to get rid of the bacteria. I kinda of view them as battles scars, makes me feel like an amazon warrior.I missed the crying smiley … but yeah I guess you guys do have a bunch of lumber jacks up there huh? Nothing that severe … though my back has seen better days. However, I manage to stay fit (I’m in the gym at least 4 or 5 days a week). It keeps me healthy and sane (or it at least helps). Were you hurt during your time in Iraq?
