I really don’t think that story can be compared to the relationship between Mary and Jesus.

Every human being on earth is living this out, whether they recognize it or not, whether or not they pray. God desires the salvation of all and that all come to know the truth. It is quick and easy to follow lies, but painful and time consuming to follow the truth.

Focus on the promised reward. Take your eyes off of it, as Peter took his eyes of the Lord when walking toward Him on the water, and you will sink.

God knows what is best for us, he wants us to be happy. I like to say that God is not a vending machine, you can’t just say a prayer and automatically get what you want. Sometimes that answer is “yes”, sometimes it is"not right now", and sometimes it is"no". Mary is obedient to the will of God, so her intercessions have to align with His will.

You’re welcome! To the best of my knowledge The Church believes this is true for when we pray to any of the saints. It also seems the saints (particularly Mary) don’t always ask God to act Himself. As it is, they know the will of God perfectly with the beatific vision so they can not defy it and based on the revelations of Fatima, God has given Mary an amount of His graces that she can dispense upon our request. In any case, it is crucial to persevere in prayer and have perpetual faith. I will pray for you
