Pat Robertson does this everytime there is a natural disaster. Yawn.

I wouldn’t let it ruin my day if I were you. He’s not so much the problem, it’s the amazingly large number of people that buy what he is selling that should scare you.

I don’t know the man personally and deliberately have avoided reading his blog because just the announcment of the topic makes me so mad, but in general anyone who claims to declare God’s judgement on an entire nation this way is in danger of claiming the divine perogative and is on dangerous ground spiritually. That there is actually a “Catholic” news website claiming something similar, that alleged rampant devil worship in Haiti has brought upon this “curse” is even more appalling. You babbling cretin! Pat Robertson has a direct phone line (wireless in modern times, used to be two tin cans and a string!) to the Almighty, whom he affectionately calls “Al”.

I think it mighty uncharitable for you to go about questionning someone who has a direct line (well, wireless connection) with God.

What I find more impressive is Robertson’s clear knowledge of the pact the Haitians entered into with the Devil. Perhaps he can advise if Mephistopheles was Satan’s agent, or perhaps Voltaire.

I am going to take the other side here…not that I am a big Pat Robertson fan…but I think folks are overreacting a tad.

A “disgrace to humanity”. Hitler maybe but Pat Robertson? Gimme a break. Foot in mouth perhaps.

I have read the reports and listened to the video and can not see where he has said anything that objectionable. I have heard stuff in the past from him that is much worse to be honest.

Now the fact that Haiti long ago made a pact with the devil may be true. It may also be an urban legend. I don’t know. Now Pat obviously believes this.

Other than that, I don’t see what is that objectionable in what he said.

Dr. Robertson never stated that the earthquake was God’s wrath. If you watch the entire video segment, Dr. Robertson’s compassion for the people of Haiti is clear. He called for prayer for them. This whole discussion begs questions and that is: Is God in control of everything or just somethings? Are natural disasters under the control of nature or the hand of God. Did God will this earthquake or was he asleep at the wheel? Did this happen because of Pat Robertson or in spite of him? Does God judge a nation when the leadership disregards Him?

I do not normally watch the 700 Club. And yes sometimes Pat says some really lousy things, but I have something to tell:

One day after a very tiring and painful [right foot pain] morning I sat in the chair flipped on the TV and his show was on. I sat and watched it. At one point he started praying about people’s ailments.

OK back track a bit. A few years earlier I had had Plantar fasciitis of the left foot and cured it with exercise.

Some time later I developed this horrible pain in my right foot- much worse then the first one with the Plantar fasciitis and more wide spread. I did all the same exercises faithfully, went to the MD, tried sole supports everything suffered with it for a long time- over a year. Could not get rid of the pain and it started affecting my knee because I was limping so.

Ok I was watching the show and all of a sudden Pat starts praying and asking for a healing for this person with trouble in their right foot, experiencing pain and it going up to their knee.

As soon as he said knee I knew he was talking about me. The thought, He is talking about me! entered my head and immediately my foot- just the right one heated up, felt all tingling numb and the pain left.

Then it hit me, I was so shocked that he was praying for me but that didn’t stop me from claiming it!

Everything happened so fast-just a few minutes and the pain was gone! I have never had pain in that foot again! It is 15 years later!

I know for an absolute fact that the Holy Spirit healed my foot that day.

I think what Pat is saying is perhaps God is in control and has a plan. We may not know what it is. We may not like it either. But…we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28).

Job 42:2 (NIV) "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.

We should be praying for the people of Haiti!

Good grief folks. If you want to bash Pat Robertson, you should at least have the common decency to bash him for something he is actually saying, not for something the media is claiming he is saying.
