baptism is a response to one’s faith in obedience to God’s word.
You mean baptism is a work, kind of like the works of the Mosaic law that one did simply because it was the law? Baptism is some sort of arbitrary activity Jesus tells us to do for some reason or other? Perhaps simply to see if we will do it?

Yes, agreed, baptism is a response to one’s faith in obedience to God’s word, but why does God’s word ask us to do it? Perhaps there is a specific purpose behind it?

Of course not, but I need help! I can’t find where Paul says he saves souls (in a secondary sense, of course)
Are there any other places where we are told that our participation saves others?
I’m not sure if this has been brought up already (kind of an old thread and my mind doesn’t stay on track very long…), but Moses certainly saved Israel on Mt. Sinai (after “Calf-Gate”) when he interceded on behalf of the people.

Moses also saved Israel when he held his arms up during the battle with the Amalekites (?). When his arms were raised, Israel prevailed. But if he lowered them, the Amalekites put a-hurtin’ on them.

Also, Abraham interceded on behalf of all Sodom if only 10 of them were innocent. Alas, there were only a handful.

You can say that these people saved those mentioned (or almost did). But it was actually God who saved them (or almost did).

to show the world that you believe a testimony of your faith in Christ

God bless

above is a clear example as to why people need to read the Bible for their is only one Salvation and only one way, one truth and one life that leads to the father.

God bless
I read the Bible and Study it- still can’t come to the same conclusions as you. Imagine that!
Different people different interpretations of the same thing. Who’s right!?

First of all, who are you answering in this statement?

Also, why is it important to “show the world that you believe…”? That would seem unimportant in my mind.

God does the saving all we do is plant and water but God makes it grow.

you guys have so much love.

The “quote” function would be a wonderful way of letting everyone know who you are talking to and which inquiry you are answering.

And thanks for the “so much love” comment. I’m glad somebody noticed!
