Not really. Sure, it has not always been easy. But, I think I did okay.
jam,
Why are you fence-sitting? The Lord loves you.
“God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jn.3:16

Are you familiar with the Bible?

God bless you,
jean

Well, once on the job I had a female coworker and a male who started ribbing her on the catholic faith saying it’s sin to do this and that .Blah blah and it went on .Another time in my childhood I had a baptist fiend I had a agreed to go to her church prior to this I had asked to attend a catholic service in the future in the time that I spent there I got the impersssion they were anti catholic .Once when were talking about heaven she said,'she was saved ’ and I I had told her about the catholic faith and tried to reason with her. That her faith was no more superior than mine .It left me with a bad taste now that I am thinking in more detail .We were close before but this left us distant. That’s about all the detail I am going to into on a public board.
faith seeker,
I have found when folks trash religion, Catholic or Lutheran, Metodists, It doesn’t matter, they really don’t know anything about what they teach. We all have the same Savior. Jesus, who is God robed in flesh. Jn.1:14
The Lord does not show favoritism, he loves us all, even when we don’t deserve it. That is the way we are to treat others. We are commanded by Christ to love one another. Jn.13:34

Another passage in the Bible tells us we are not to judge the salvation of others. Mt.7:1-4
Please don’t let anyone draw you into these debates. Pray for them.

The Lord loves us all,
jean

I have many friends who are prostant and one who is Evangical (sorry if I spellt that wrong). And one that is either Evangical or Pentecostal not sure which. But we all love eachother and support each other in our faith journeys. They actually encourage me to grow in my Catholic faith. Now with family sometimes its more difficult. I leave the Judging up to Jesus. In Chirst.
butterfly,
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Rom.10:13
All the above are christians and I assume they are living a holy life.
As christians we are all on a journey. At times we fail to do what is right. We go on and try to do better. 🙂
The Lord is always there to help us whenever we call on his name.
I’m happy to know you have such lovely friends. Your fortunate.

God bless,
jean

I have friends who are Protestant, Wesleyann, Baptist, and Non denominational. They all practice and live according to what Jesus has taught and are true Christians in what they say and do.

I had 2 best friends who are Catholic but 1 divorced her husband and remarried even though her annulment was denied. She stated that she didn’t care and that her parish priest told her that some couples truly deserve a nullification but don’t get one. They don’t want to see them suffer by never getting married b/c they are truly in love so he refers them to the Episcopal church down the road to get married and then they are allowed to come back and receive the sacraments as well as teach CCD and RCIA classes.

My other best friend told me last yr. when she came for a visit that she left the church due to certain things she disagreed with–1 of them being cohabitation/fornication–she sees no problem with it if 2 people are “in love”. I told her that it’s lust and true love can wait until marriage. A few months later, she cld to tell me that she was dxed with HPV & refuses to tell her past partners or follow up w/her gyn appts. to make sure it doesn’t turn into cancer. I strongly encouraged her to seek treatment b/c I didn’t want her to get sick and she told me, “I know I won’t get cancer and I don’t need to see the doctor every 6 months”. I tried to do my best to witness my faith and explain that I really don’t want her to go through what my mom did when she had uterine cancer as it’s not pretty.

Then she dropped another bombshell  --she still plans to move in with the next guys she dates and will tell him about her condition when the time is right. If he just wants to remain friends only w/o intimacy, she will go on to find someone that will accept and love her. I tried to tell her that there is more to a relationship than intimacy and you need Jesus in a relationship that leads to marriage to keep it strong but she would have none of it and has now refused to talk to me.

I am still worried for her well being, physical as well as spiritual. She is looking in the wrong place for love and doesn’t realize how dangerous her actions are. I will always pray for her even though she no longer wants me as a friend.

Last weekend I went to a party thrown at a friend’s house. This friend was telling a story about his boss, who is seemingly an unending source of frustration in his life, and, stumbling to express his exasperation effectively, he took the Lord’s name in vain. While my friend is not particularly religious, he still stopped his story at that point to apologize to me for talking that way. I thought that was very nice, and I’m quite pleased that my religion mostly affects my friendships in a positive way.

I’m sorry to know that your faith has caused trouble within your family.
It is faith that draws christians together.

Jesus gave this command in Jn.13:34
"A new command I give you: “Love one another, as I have loved you, so you must love one another. verse 35. By this you will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
You may want to pass this onto your family members, with kindness and love. 🙂

God bless,
jean
Jean I thank you for your words. My wife and her father’s relationship is beyond anything we can do to repair it. It is far past that now and only God can mend what neither her nor I asked for.

God bless you
