Hmmm šŸ¤” How about this?

Settings āž”ļø Language & (name removed by moderator)ut
Scroll down to ā€œOther text servicesā€
The first option should be ā€œSpell checkerā€

That’s how it works in Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) on a European-market Sony Xperia M2. I can’t click on ā€œSpell checkerā€ on my phone because ā€œno apps with spell checker installed,ā€ but if you can I imagine there’s a toggle switch to flip on the next screen.

If this doesn’t work either, then to make any other suggestions I will need to know the version of Android your phones are running since I only have these two operational smartphones šŸ˜€

One of the reasons I use SwiftKey instead of the pre-installed keyboard is that I can turn off the autocorrect function and it will still suggest corrections but won’t automatically execute them. Apparently the pre-installed keyboard has a combined spell check and autocorrect. They are both on or both off. You can’t separate the two.

okay. thanks for the tips. so far, i don’t
see spellcheck or autocorrect anywhere.
i will keep trying. maybe installing another keyboard could help.
i have a friend who works at one of the
phone stores at the mall. maybe he could help.

i went to settings and language and (name removed by moderator)ut and then lg keyboard. there was a part on autocorrect, but no slide to turn it off!
grrrr!

nothing…I was surprised. I thought an option would pop up but it did not.
