Okay, we seem to have lost focus of this thread. The question is Does Starbucks support Planned Parenthood? Many claim they do and provide websites that prove it. Some claim that they do not then they relay a personal account of “My sister’s brother’s uncle’s cousin works at the local Starbucks and he doesn’t support Planned Parenthood so that must mean neither does the corporation of Starbucks.” Now the question is, If you knew beyond the shadow of all doubt that indeed Starbucks does support Planned Parenthood would you continue to do business with them, knowing full well another innocent baby will die a horrible death just so you can have an awful tasting cup of coffee you only THINK is good because you paid a lot of money for it.

Do you use Windows? Do you use any Microsoft products? (Office, etc) The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the single largest private donor to Planned Parenthood.

It gets better. Entrepreneur Warren Buffett is one of the largest individual contributors to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is a major stockholder in >35 corporate businesses. Do you drink Coke (or practically any soda, because Coke bottlers handle most of them)? Do you bank with Wells Fargo? Do you have an American Express card? Do you wear Nike shoes? Do you shop at Wal-Mart? Do you have Comcast cable? Do you eat Nestle chocolate? Do you eat ANYTHING manufactured or distributed by Kraft Foods? Do you read the Washington Post? Do you use GE lightbulbs? Do you get packages via UPS? Do you use Oral B toothbrushes???

You see, Oral B toothbrushes are made by Procter & Gamble. Warren Buffet owns 79 million shares of Procter & Gamble. He takes the dividends that toothbrush helped create and gives them to Bill & Melinda Gates, who give them to Planned Parenthood.

I’m not saying it’s a good thing. It’s not, but let’s not just pick on Starbucks (I hate coffee, for the record). Switching to locally-produced goods and reducing consumption is a great way to combat this! A pretty indisputable link exists between most everything we consume and some horribly immoral practices. 😦

oh yeah! and thank you for pointing out how ridiculas this whole boycotting thing is. There was another thread about Wal-Mart that borders on the absurd. The Church has not “officially” commented nor have they issued a decree that the faithful stop patronizing these businesses. I suggested the paranoid find a cave in a remote area because there wouldn’t be anywhere else to live.

Thank you for bringing this up. I would love to cut and paste it on the Wal-Mart thread, but I think that is against the forum rules…but hey, if you want to go over there and express a “similar” sentiment…I hold the door open for you.😃

I like Diet Coke
I shop at Wal-Mart
My whole family drives a Ford
I grew up with Ford cars
I buy Kraft Products
I buy Proctor and Gamble
I “have” worn a “pink” ribbon
I buy my prescriptions at CVS, which does sell contraceptives (I keep in mind that all patrons of CVS are not Catholic and live in a free society known as the US of A)
I wouldn’t bother me if my real estate agent, my neighbor, were a homosexual. As a matter of fact there are 4 couples in my neighborhood that are homosexual.
I like Starbucks as a treat.

I don’t live in a “fishbowl”

I don’t either.

I like Coke over Pepsi.
I’ve heard Dominos is anti-choice but I prefer Hut even over Dominos’ new pie although the new one is better than the old one.
I shop @ Walmart too for the prices.
CVS is my nearest pharmacy.
I’ve bought Starbucks ice cream for a treat but I usually get my iced coffee at McDonalds or occasionally Dunkin Doughnuts.

I’m apparently not as rich as a lot of ppl on CAF. But oh well I know with Christ maybe a camel can pass thru the eye of a needle.

But I haven’t read the whole thread so I must have missed the sin it is to wear a pink ribbon!

And it wouldn’t bother me either if my neighbor was gay or lesbian. Why should it? 🤷 He or she might love his or her neighbor (that would be ME) and do the Christian thing and come to my rescue in a time of need. What am I going to say if my house is burning for instance and if I had children and if they were inside? No, I don’t want your help because you’re gay! How foolish that would be!

Are you Catholic? Just pretending? Just curious.
What an odd question. One can not pretend to be Catholic. If made a member of the Church, the Church considers them Catholic. Whether 100% faithful, dissenting, non-practicing, excommunicated, all Catholic. 🤷

So some of you agree that we can"t live in a vish bowl. Amen

But now what??? Are you going to hit the streets and REALLY do sonething about it???

Find out about your local pregnancy resource center! We really need your help!!! Praying in front of abortion mills would be a big one too!!!

Let’s hit the streets with that fire of spirit that I hear in your comments and really make a difference!!!

Go get 'em!

I support a maternity home for unwed mothers. Now praying in front of an abortion clinic will not have the impact that a home for unwed mothers right next door would. Now there is an idea!

Grass roots works from within outward…positive change works the same. I have saved one innocent life…after that one life was saved…my daughter went out and spoke to a friend who was considering abortion…she chose life…another life saved…that young woman knew a friend of a friend who was considering abortion with RU…she changed her life and now a infertile couple became a family because of her choice. Sponsoring or starting a home for unwed mothers is a start. Talking to our boys and girls in middle school about the sacredness of sex in a sacramental marriage. Sure, some will not listen…but for the ones that do…is great. The ones who do not listen and the result is pregnancy…those that listened will choose life and counsel those who may be contemplating abortion. We young people listen to their peers…on the bad things…what if they listened on the good?

yes you are right…look no further than your own back yard …

I really like your thinking. You remind of St Teresa and her Little Way.

Julianna, I am new and I don’t know how to quote, but I like your thinking and you remind me of St Teresa and her Little Way.

Okay, so Starbucks is not the only supporter of Planned Parenthood, but they are the topic of this thread. I know as well as anybody that boycotting every pro-choice corporation, company, and/or establishment is next to impossible, unless you live like Grizzly Adams, but we must do our best to look for pro-life alternatives whenever possible. This is my question to these supporters of Planned Parenthood. WHY DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO AN ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO ELIMINATE YOUR FUTURE CUSTOMERS?

How did a simple cup of coffee become such a huge issue? I don’t get it. I know i should be a concerned Catholic and all but should i also disregard this:

starbucks.com/responsibility

I know that all these good programs that they support does not justify the support for pp but does that mean that know i have to spend hours and hours investigating every single company whose products i use? If so when will i have time to actuality live??? I cannot dismiss this info either, knowing that a single penny i give them i can help educate children or preserve environment. How can I draw a line? Should I draw a line?
Should i simply retreat to some far away mountain grow my own food, refrain from any money because i never now where that money goes or who it will support? It’s ridiculous. All the information posted in this thread should be taken with a grain of salt. there are so many false info out there you never really know what to believe. In my country we say that “Behind every evil there is something good”. So before you pass judgments (or boycott) maybe we should all look into our own wrongdoings.

God bless you all

Seems to be a lot of them on CAF.

I am a sinner (not proud of it either) but I am trying. I guess we will all be reminded of our “cute” posts (among other actions) on The Day.

When buying coffee pays for murder, it becomes a huge issue. We didn’t choose to make it big; Starbucks did.
a single penny i give them i can help educate children or preserve environment
There are better ways to give to charity. Ways that support kids and the environment without killing other kids. Plus, most of what Starbucks takes goes to its own profits, not charity, so if you really care about charity you should be giving your money directly to charity anyway.
I know that all these good programs that they support does not justify the support for pp but does that mean that know i have to spend hours and hours investigating every single company whose products i use? If so when will i have time to actuality live?
No, there’s no requirement to go out and research every single company out there. You’re right; that would be insanely time-consuming (and if you have several issues that are important to you, multiply that effort by the number of issues). It’s basically impossible. But whenever you become aware of a company using your money for truly destructive and inhuman things, however it is that you become aware of it, that is when you are morally obligated to act.

I have never known that Starbuck supported abortion, and I never felt any need to look them up in particular. But, now that I know, I have stopped patronizing them. They join Nike (sweatshops) and WalMart (worker exploitation) on my list of ongoing private boycotts. Probably some of my money still goes to terrible things that I don’t know about… but, for now, I do what I can and I act on what I know.
So before you pass judgments (or boycott) maybe we should all look into our own wrongdoings
You’re right. I had better make sure I’m not being a hypocrite or passing rash judgment I’m not in a position to pass. So, let’s take a fearless moral inventory of my wrongdoings compared to Starbucks!
  1. Have I murdered anybody lately?
No, I have not. Yes, Starbucks has. Annnnnd I’m all out of questions.

Conclusion: I am definitely in a position to pass judgment and boycott the scum.
God bless you all
You as well! 🙂

@Wowbagger i guess your right. Once you learn what a company you sponsor is doing and against your moral codes then you should boycott it.

When I was referring to passing of judgments very few of us a aware that we commit genocides with our thoughts alone. One may not physically kill a living soul and body but with the thought one is capable of even graver sin. We judge through human eyes something we so easily forget while God judges with righteous eyes something we should never forget.

Should i boycott Stabucks because they sponsor organization that i consider immoral YES i should but i cannot judge them.I have not right to do that only God has.

Maybe my words seemed harsh and maybe it’s my resistance to accept the fact that from now on i cannot enjoy a cup of coffee in Starbuck getting the best of me but i do think that people do far worse things than sponsor Starbucks.

@CatholicFireman i am Catholic born and raised and proud of it. I do not pretend and much like you i am a sinner but try my best not to pass judgments unless I would like to be judged myself.

God bless you all abundantly 🙂

PS small request - please pray for me. I have to make a tough decision and i would like to do God’s will and not my own, and i need all the support i can get.

Remember folks that Starbucks does gift matching only. They do not directly contribute to PP as far as I know. Employees drive what is given to PP.

Maybe you should ask the partners that serve you if they are adking for matching to PP!!

I agree with one who said that greater good can come from evil! Maybe boycott those stores that have partners that give to PP - such as those in gay districts and known areas supporting gay pride and such.

If we don’t say anything to anyone at Starbucks stores, have we really made an impact?!

Why are there not threads on other stores, banks etc? I find it interesting that y’all pick on Starbucks in particular. Easy target or what? Why not Target?! (No pun intended)

God bless y’all and go out there and make a difference!
