Does the world know you are Catholic?

I was really surprised visiting America recently and seeing lovely statues of Our Lady on front lawns 🙂 I must admit

if I did that here where I live I might be thought a bit nutty.Someday I’m going to get past that
We went to Poland last year for World Youth Day, and we were lucky to spend a few days before and after visiting various parts of Poland. There were beautiful statutes, almost like shrines, at the ends of driveways in quite a few homes. It was an amazing sight.

This post sounds a lot like me.
However, I work for a Jewish Atheist (a lot of them exist) and had to hear a lot of things like…”There is no God or else there would have been no Holocaust.”
Recently I pointed out to her that there was no God in the Nazi Ideology and that if there was really no God we are all potential predators and it doesnt matter but with him there will be a divine justice delivered on the last day.

I think ever since I said that she knows I’m definitely a believer-Catholic.

It’s strange to sit with people when they discuss abortion, LGBT and how God is responsible for all evil in the world meanwhile you have to hold your tongue risking to be exposed otherwise.

People who really know me know I’m Catholic, but most people don’t know just how committed I am from the inside out. If you came into my house, however, you’d see: statue of the Sacred Heart in the living room; lovely 16th century framed print of Mary in the dining room; statue of St. Joseph on the kitchen window, lots of spiritual reading books scattered in various room; stray rosaries hanging around, crucifixes in bedrooms, Mary statue in bedroom. Gosh, I never took an inventory like that before. Something in every room!

There are a lot of young people (I gather) on this forum, but someday we are all in this position. I just hired a lawyer and made a will for the first time, along with a POA and Health Care Directive. My lawyer now knows I’m Catholic because I asked for the Catholic version of the Health Care Directive–the one, for example, that excludes the possibility (and increasingly likelihood) of physician-assisted suicide, euthanasia, etc. It also has a statement about how Catholics view the body, the necessity of being told your true state in order to prepare for death properly, the desire for the Last Sacrament, etc. Anyway, I found this a good opportunity to witness to the faith.

Most people who know me know that I am Catholic. I even have a quote on my email from Cardinal Sara that is not well known but should be.

“Noise has now acquired the nobility that silence once kept.”

I was not open, that i was a Catholic,at times i would be terrified to put the sign of the Cross while passing by a Catholic Church until one day while at Mass this verse was read out.Even this verse terrified me to equally the same, by my surprise i got the courage from the Lord to put the sign of the Cross confidently, though with prudence in other places!

Luke 12:9 but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. 10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. 11 When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, do not worry about how you are to defend yourselves or what you are to say; 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say.”

The world probably does not know I am Catholic. Not long ago I put a medal of St. Michael, the Miraculous Medal, the medal commemorating the 100th anniversary of
Fatima and a crucifix on a homemade necklace of heavy strings I bought at a craft store
and I guess when I wear this necklace people know.

Well the few whom purchased my TWO Catholic books do and so do all those I share[teach] our Faith with do; and so does my family and friends.

That is NOT the WORLD, but its a start:smile:

God Bless you
Patrick

I’ve a stack of these cards sitting on my desk at work, I work for a parish. If you want to PM me your address, I will mail you a couple!

The WORLD???

But YES, my pastor, my family, my friends, and the MANY I share our Faith with certainly do:smiley: But its a never ending TASK and challenge to keep On; KEEPING on.

GBY
