That is not true. Not even close to the truth. The Catechism says every lie is grave.
Correct. That is not true. Not even close to the truth.

That would be an example of light matter. This is another example: lying in small matters is not a grave sin.
That would be incorrect. The Catechism says every lie is grave.
'Nuff said…not another word needed…could have shut this thread down as soon as you hit send!Easy solution: Go to confession.![]()
You didn’t bear false witness against your neighbor…you just didn’t want to go into a big explanation. It breaks thou shalt not bare false witness. It doesn’t seem to be of grave matter but it does break one of the ten commandments.
And also remember, you do not have to rush to Confession for venial sin. You can mention venial sin at your next regular or necessary Confession. A good act of contrition and a worthy Communion wipes away venial sin.So here’s my conclusion from all this. I will confess this next time I go to confession. If that doesnt happen by Sunday I will still take communion for two reasons 1: Even though it’s its one of the ten commandments it isn’t a grave matter and 2: It happened really without me knowing it until after it happened. These both seem to put this in the venial category. Some on here seem to think I’m a fool for asking these questions on here or not knowing the answers right away, but this has helped me greatly and will continue to help me in the future. I think I do have a bit of scrupulosity going on and I may have abstained from communion a couple times when it wasn’t necessary. So thanks to everyone for your (name removed by moderator)ut and advice.
God bless
At least in Catholicism we categorize sins, into big and small (mortal and venial). So the other day I was on the phone with a client and I had to text the client my phone number after the call was over. Then afterwards I forgot too and I told her my phone had to be restarted and that’s why I was delayed (even though this wasn’t true). Is this a mortal sin that would prevent me from taking communion or a venial sin?
