I have a reply or a comment really
I am going to put this here and in the no more war thread. It is Venerable Bishop Sheen talking in 1943 about the first and second world wars and dictators.
It could have been given today, just changing names etc in my opinion.
Please watch it.

What’s wrong with that, according to the thumbnail, she’s expressing gratitude that no one is hurt, that seems like something to be relieved about even if it isn’t ideal.

OK look at it this way, the man had enough money to live the rest of his life and not sweat a thing. He had his life all set up nice and fine. He could have stayed out of politics doing what he was doing and enjoying his family. Why put himself through all of the mess he’s had to go through? Nobody would run for president just for the fun of it. And think about what his wife, young son and all his family has had to endure.

Power is such an attractive thing for many. It need not totally be for the love of the country

The killed Iranian general was a major player against ISIS in the region.
I guess Iran at any time is lesser of an evil than ISIS

I wish I could assume that. Maybe it is true, but maybe he really did do just that. He has proven himself to be impulsive, to put it mildly, or, if you like, unusually decisive.

I don’t doubt that he had people to counsel him, but again: he is very willing to go against the counsel of people with more experience than he has, regardless of what the area of expertise is. He is willing to go on his instincts instead of making decisions based on a deep factual knowledge of whatever question he is deciding, as well. It isn’t my intention to read anything into his actions. I mean that he says as much himself. Love it or hate it, that’s the way he rolls and he doesn’t try to hide it.

This is nothing more than your opinion of the man.
