Does your EF provide veils for women?

I have seen TLMs where there are basket by the doorway for women who may have forgotten ( šŸ˜‰) their veil. Does your EF offer this? If so, does it help?

My ICKSP church does. I consider the provision to be a very good idea. I have seen some women who seem like they are attending for the first time use them and others who do not wish to. They provide a choice and enable those attending to feel comfortable in possibly unfamiliar territory. Having said that, I am happy to report that the Institute of Christ The King is very pastoral in its outlook and is happy to welcome long term female parishioners who do not wish to use a veil or mantilla.

Thank you. It sounds like a great idea. We have considered it, but some thought it might be too forceful a suggestion. You’re blessed to have the ICKSP.

Yes. There is a basket of mantillas at the front door, though many women choose not to cover their heads and no one has an issue with it.

We have a non-diocesan TLM where head-covering is obligatory. Women will be approached and required to wear, or else escorted out. They get 100% compliance, and I don’t think any have had to leave. But still … it cuts against our current culture.

No. My EF does not offer this because veils are still not required even at the EF. Therefore, nothing has been ā€œforgottenā€ if a woman shows up without a veil.

I’m curious about this - for full disclosure, I’m not religious and never have been. As I understand it, in Catholicism wearing a head-covering is a personal decision and not something that can be required. So how can it be obligatory? Am I mis-understanding anything (which is very possible šŸ˜‰)?

While I am all for head coverings for women, I think that ejecting those who don’t want to wear them is a little extreme. It could put a bad taste is someone’s mouth for the TLM.

Ours does. There is just a little basket in the front Vestibule with veils in it, and they do get used. Usually if people return and become regulars they acquire their own.

Yeah…I’m not okay with this. I’m all for veiling for those who choose to do so. But the Church Herself doesn’t require it. This feels…Protestant in its focus on making its own rules.

An example, for a time (I think still) women are not permitted with certain attire to enter St. Peter’s Basilica. For a time, (maybe still) they had to be veiled even after Vatican II.
A priest could establish a rule forbidding certain clothing.
But I was talking about non-approved TLMs.

I haven’t seen or heard any negative judgements about those who do not wear veils. Although fallen human nature will be tempted, I’m sure. There’s a good understanding, the veil is a devotional option, not obligatory,

I should be clear - where obligatory it is for non-approved TLMs. Not compliant with bishop.

I know to get into St Peter’s basilica you have to cover up your shoulders and your knees (I have been there in the past).
non-approved TLMs. Not compliant with bishop.
May I ask what a non-approved TLM is? Why does it not comply with a bishop (apologies for the de-rail)?
