Does Your Parish Receive Candidates at the Easter Vigil?

As far as I know, we still do- it’s just that we haven’t had anyone be received since 2016.

I suppose I should say that my pastor is a seminary professor and we have several seminary professors who are parishioners.

I think my parish is frequently a “test case” parish for the diocese.

It’s just that you would think a Candidate, by virtue of his baptism, would need less “formation” than a Catechumen.
That’s often true in general, but not always. I have had an unbaptized person who went to Catholic school growing up, and then people who were baptized Catholic but never actually practiced or had any sort of faith formation at all.

It sort of warms my heart to see people coming from so many different places, but nonetheless all desiring to be Catholic and draw closer to Christ. 🙂

Certainly!

Of course the truth is that no one, cradle Catholic or adult convert, ever receives too much catechesis and/or formation. We all need continual formation whether before receiving our sacraments or afterwards.
