It seem about the only position left that didn’t have a thread of it’s own 😃

Don’t forget standing on your head . . . though that might be folded into the thread on standing.

Chris

I laughed out loud on that one!!

What about breaking apart the kneeling thread, do you kneel straight up and down or do the knees bent rear resting on the pew?

 you guys kill me!!!

(don’t mind me…I’m just bitter because I didn’t start the thread myself!)

How about doing cartwheels after my pv preaches an awesome homily? Most of the time I feel like doing that. Or wailing when someone else’s homily tanks (or they start playing horrid 1970s and Bob Hurd music during Mass)?

Do you race back to your pew or walk very slowly trying to remember where it is?😃
Now who was I sitting with? Was I first or last and I didn’t recieve the wine so do I wait?
For the others to come in. Ahh now I am kneeling, relief I can pray>:)
The worst occasion is I wanted to receive from Father so I crossed way over and then forgot where I came from, just plump sat down nearest and then relized I was in some one elses place:confused: oh oh not my purse. Oh my then I feel like jumping:D Now if I do this I just sit in the far back and notice before communion where there is an empty place. But then I saw the perplexed look on the people looking for me to return. Oh well it worked out.

😃 I always have to look for my purse to find my pew. Then they started making an announcement that we shouldn’t leave our purses in the pew because there had been some thefts at area churches. I hate carrying my purse up to communion–it just doesn’t seem right–so I would leave it locked in the car. Then I could never be sure I’d gotten to the right pew!! It would have helped if my pew-mates had been doing jumping jacks!!!

I am of the opinion that jumping-jacks are OK as long as one does them facing liturgical east …

On the issue of finding your pew again, take some inexpensive but distinctive item - a prayer-book with an unusual cover or a pair of bright blue plastic rosary beads or something - and leave them on your seat when you go up to communion. Being almost winter here, I find my umbrella (also bright blue), which I invariably take with me everywhere in the cooler months - is a good pew-marker.

I was very happy to see this thread. Our EMJJ’s (Extraordinary Ministers of Jumping Jacks) are completely out of control and need to be reined-in by the pastor. Even worse, our overweight deacon has delegated leading the pre-dismissal push-ups to a layman, which I believe is a liturgical abuse.

According to GIRM 903.75(b)(3) and the document Exercisium ridiculosium, jumping jacks may only be done on the feast day of St. Jack LaLanne (after whom they are named). They cannot be led by a bare-headed woman.

At least now you can find your car! 😃

Some time ago I suggested a wave of hooah cheers - three times around the congregation (in honor of the Trinity). It’s not prohibited by the rubrics and would certainly get the Spirit moving and spice up that dull drab Mass.

Unfortunately, the troglodytes taking control of the Mass and the Church in it’s headlong dive back to the Dark Ages refuse to give any ear! Perhaps instead of “Hooah” “Hoya” would placate them and we could move forward in the Spirit of Vatican II into the sunshine of the liturgical three fold wave?

Think it would work?

Haha. I’m totally like that. Normally I go on Saturday night with my grandfather, and we sit in the third row, always. We get there an hour early just to get that seat. Something about the lighting and the sound being better in that row. I’ll determine that when I get older and my eyesight and hearing start to go.
But about 30% of the time, I go on Sunday, and I sit anywhere. And I have to look around for the people that were sitting near me so I know what pew I was in. It doesn’t help when they leave after communion.

I said WHAAT a strange thread!! Then I looked at the rest of the current threads in this area, some of them are stranger.

My purse is the best marker. I would suggest keeping things of significant value in a billfold, which you can quickly switch to a pocket in any vulnerable situation.

Of course, the faces of those I walked up with should be better, unless they leave early. 😦

As for taking Communion under both forms, once I gave up my AA prejudice, I found that the Host dissolves quicker. 😛 No need to chew or do jumping jacks.

A few weeks ago the priest at mom’s church, I take her, (he somewhat reserved priest) gave a resounding homily about keeping in God we trust, saying it was spoken and written in the constitution. Amen there were a lot and cat whistles and cheers oh my never before heard this. Her priest got all red faced but felt good I think about it. They all cheered for a couple minutes. It only took a few good men no pun intended to get it going.
I feel elated after communion but sometimes just cry at the thought of Jesus.
😊 It maybe would be nice to have a hymn **after ** communion in unison as a thanksgiving but I like silence too. That’s just me.

Yes Sister I use some eye catchers too. Most don’t carry purses ither. I like my rosary in my pocket, if I have one so I can pray that after, believe me our priest is slow and there is almost enough time.
I will focus on the people and what they look like. Many in our church do the serving so they all sit in front if it is their turn, so sometimes the front pews are for them. I could always sit in the back.

I have a bright red towel in my van on the passenger side seat over the large rest so I can find my car. ha ha
