Dolan: Whoever thinks he could be next Pope must be on dope

An English Speaking Pope! That’s going to be difficult as there is no English Cardinal Elector at the forthcoming conclave!
 
Who was it who said that England and the USA are two countries divided by a common language?
 
Hilarious! He has a wonderful sense of humor and is a true warrior for the Church in America. Gotta love Cardinal Dolan 😛

Eh, I don’t think it’s that bad. He made a joke. I’m just not sure I found it all that funny.

I was more interested in the response he had about Cuomo. If he removes the ban on late term abortions in NY, I wonder whether Cardinal Dolan will take action…as in denying him communion and/or excommunicating him from the Church.

Take it then you’ve never listened to him on his weekly show on Sirius/XM’s The Catholic Channel, he’s got an AWSOME sense of humor.

No - you are not alone. I’m not impressed with this man, and his sense of humor. I’d much rather see him calling out the liberals who seem to fawn at his feet, than him donning a cheese head and making jokes.

Late term abortions are not performed anywhere except where the mother’s life is in imminent danger.

It is certainly not a form of birth control.

That is not true. I personally have heard three recent cases in which the mother’s life was NOT in danger at all.
  1. A woman aborted her twins at 36 weeks. Reason? “I already have 5 kids, and after thinking it over, I can’t handle two more.” What made this case extra sad was she had posted pregnancy belly pictures before the abortion on her Facebook. Her life was not in danger.
  2. A man recounted how after him and his wife used IVF to conceive, they found that they were expecting twins. His wife made the decision later in the pregnancy to terminate one of the twins because she “only wanted one child.” The father tearfully recounted this, saying he now suffers from depression.
  3. A woman entered a clinic at 33 weeks with NO health issues and died during a botched abortion. It wasn’t the pregnancy that killed her. It was the abortion that did it.
    There are more stories…
 
Am I the only one who sees this as a kind of non-denial denial? Of course he isn’t a frontrunner, but these statements are a far cry from Ouellet’s “nightmare” comment.

I’m going to defend Dolan here. The Holy Spirit worked through his ministries to bring me back to the Catholic Church. His work on the New Evangelism is real. So what if he has a sense of humor? This is the type of man who has the experience leading Catholics, rather than being an administrator. He has the acumen to draw Catholics back to the Church and move forward from there. If you somehow feel he is not conservative enough, I challenge you to demonstrate where he is “liberal”.

He is certainly being humble about it, but he is well poised to be an excellent pontiff. While I know the Holy Spirit will reveal a Pope is able to lead the Catholic Church in the right direction, I do say prayers that the Holy Spirit leads the Conclave to Dolan.

Oh, I’m OK with a sense of humor. I know a guy named Monsignor Jim Vlaun - has a great podcast about rock music called Religion & Rock, funniest, most boisterous Priest I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with! Check out his podcast if you like rock music too, it’s great.

For whatever reason, I’ve never clicked with Cardinal Dolan. Of course, I’ve only met him once or twice. I’m sure he’s a good man, just think our personalities don’t mesh all that well.

And where exactly did these abortions occur?

I don’t know of any state in the US where this would be legal. It is certainly now what Coumo is supporting.
 
There was recently a story on Spirit Daily about the four late term abortion providers. It was one of them that caused the death of the young woman just recently. I heard the account about the father on Catholic radio just last Friday. Trust me, just because it isn’t “legal” doesn’t mean it isn’t being done! It happens all the time. A simple search on the Internet or any pro-life website can tell you more than I can. One of the late term abortionists was even quoted as saying that she would continue to perform abortions even if it became illegal. That should speak volumes on how well they respect the law.
 
I like Dolan,and respect what he did here in Milwaukee. Saying that,I was not happy with him glad handing Obama and other pro-abort pols at the Al Smith dinner. Should have said more. Also think sometimes he is not serious enough for the leader of the church in the US.
