Don’t Protestants accuse Mary with Adultery?

If I am wrong I don’t believe that it will make a difference on my relationship with God. Her relationship with God is between them. Not for me to decide. I never met her and not until I can meet God face to face will I know for sure.

But what ‘truth’ are we talking about? If scripture spent no time on this issue why do we?

Because marriage is a human thing. Marriage is for a man and a woman, not God and woman. There is no evidence that marriage is anything but a human bond. There is no evidence that God married Mary at any time.

Union of God and man WAS Christ not His connection with Mary. Since scripture says nothing about this heavenly marriage I think you are stretching with this idea… As you state, God’s ways are not our ways, who’s to say that He would need Mary as a spouse in order for her to bear His Son?

Scripture spends a lot of time on it if you read between the lines.

Because marriage is a human thing. Marriage is for a man and a woman, not God and woman. There is no evidence that marriage is anything but a human bond. There is no evidence that God married Mary at any time.

But “marriage” as a word does not always mean the bond between a man and a woman.

The question isn’t wether or not he needed Mary as a spouse, but wether or not she IS his spouse. God doesn’t need anything. But God did do things.
 
It is obvious that we aren’t going to agree on this.

Do I know I am going to have the chance to ask God? Do you? No one knows for sure but I believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ our Savior and His Holy Sacrifice. I believe that I am nothing without God and try to adhere to everything He tells me. I am doing everything in my power to love God and pray that He sees this and though I don’t deserve it, He would make room for me in Heaven…

I think I may know where all the stuff about Mary being accused of adultery comes from.

I think maybe the subject is getting a bit turned around or something.

Because it just occurred to me that Mary COULD possibly have been accused of adultery by the community at large? This is why Joseph wanted to “divorce her quietly?”

Soooooo…maybe the confusion is that “Protestants” didn’t accuse her of adultery…maybe it is just that she might have been accused of it by the community she lived in, because they would not have understood? Or maybe they thought she and Joseph were fooling around early?

Just a thought.

Just to note: I couldn’t read this whole thread. I read the first page, then my eyes started to glaze over at the second. Forgive me if this has been brought up already.

I guess I’m a little far out in left field with this idea, forgive me if I have offended any one. The thread has been a little troubling for me to think of.

I will accept popular opinion and will pray that those thought be removed from my mind. Thanks all for your considerations.

Conclusion:

Divine actions like this need no understanding, or explanation, the mud I am need not to ponder such high glorious mystery as this.

I think this whole thread is blasphemous. The question is totally offensive to the Catholic faith, and I don’t know why Forum Administrators allow such to go on.

In Jesus time, people didn’t live with one another unless they were married. I am sure, (although the Gospels don’t say so, since the question doesn’t relate to the life of Jesus) Joseph and Mary were married according to the Jewish law, else their neighbors would treat Jesus as a bastard son.

God chose Mary who was bethrowed to Joseph before conception to be the parents of Jesus. Mary gave birth and remained forever a physical virgin. That is what her perpetual virginity means.
