I’m seeing some very hopeful posts regarding a Trump victory. I believe folks are being delusional but still very hopeful!
I think the amount of delusion in this country increases every four years. It was rather high in 2008 and 2012 too.

I do, too. Trump could win the popular vote, and I think the election might be close, but Hillary has the electoral map.

But does she have the Rust Belt? Ohio, Florida? For a Clinton or Trump supporter to claim the other side does not have a serious chance is delusional. Equally.

If he can get this far with the Republican nomination, imagine what he could do with the general population, many of whom don’t normally vote or follow politics but would vote for him because he’s a celebrity and he’s on television and they like his brash style.

(This is me being pessimistic by the way, not hopeful.)

Indeed. How soon folks forget. But perhaps 08 and 12 could be better classified as delirium.

I think she’s an extremely weak candidate. If she weren’t she wouldn’t have lost to Obama the last time around. Americans don’t like Hillary and they don’t like family dynasties. Plus she has more than a whiff of corruption about her and a bad track record as secretary of state that Trump will be more than happy to dredge up.

Of course she does. Trump might be able to capture one of those states, but one won’t be enough.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. She’s gotten many more votes than Sanders, and he is deemed the most trustworthy of any of the candidates.

Maybe one of the Ducks should run for president. I’d vote for him over Trump! 😛

Well, the timing makes sense: after all the talk yesterday about drop-outs, it’s a good time to capitalize (no offense to the socialists).

Anyhow, you gotta love it, right? Clinton has about 55% of the Dem votes and is being asked to drop out for an (if possible) even more liberal Dem … Trump has about 40% of the Repub votes and his opponents have now dropped out.
No offense taken.

But you see my point: thus far (i.e. during the GOP primary season) Trump didn’t even need to do anything like that, apparently. He just said “I don’t want to talk about” birtherism, and then the press didn’t press.
Yes, I think that the press are biding their time, giving Trump enough rope to hang himself.

they were very happy to give someone like him all kinds of free air time, because even HRC looks good in comparison to him.

That is politics as usual for the left-leaning MSM. Whether or not the same rules of politics apply to Trump remains to be seen.
People do not have to like Trump to have had it up to the ears with all the faux outrage churned out by the politcally correct media against conservatives.

Not really a “hopeful” thing on my part if you were addressing that to me. I’m a racetrack handicapper at heart. I just am fascinated by politics, and have seen too many reversals in the elections in my lifetime to think the election can be called definitely for either party at this point. As I said earlier, too many variables in play.

The fact that she can’t finish an aging socialist who honeymooned in the U.S.S.R. tells us a lot. People are voting for her out of partisan habit, not because they actually like her as a candidate. (With some demographic exceptions).
