Attempting to loosen sanctions at a time when they’re hampering the flow of Russian capital into America and hurting Russian oil exploration. Also appointing a Russian Order of Friendship recipient oil CEO to be Secretary of State at time when major US-Russian oil deals are happening.
How has Russia benefited from these alleged actions? And really, US fracking, which Trump is encouraging, is killing Russia by keeping oil prices in the $50/bbl range. If anything is hurting Russian cash flow and oil exploration, it’s the US becoming the swing producer for oil and natural gas. Russia’s two biggest foreign policy clubs are it’s nuclear arsenal, and it’s virtual monopoly of the European natural gas market. By selling Patriot missiles to Eastern European and Baltic States, and exporting US LNG to Poland and other Eastern European states, Trump is effectively emasculating Russian foreign policy. Again, if you’re going to demonstrate collusion, you’re going to have to point to some actions Trump is taking that is benefiting Russia, because at this point, nothing he’s doing is.

Wow … I am just amazed … The Obama administration sent $1.7 billion dollars to Iran -$400 million in CASH with the balance made in two wire transfers …

That CASH to the sponsors or terrorism and stated enemy of America did not generate the same angst as a meeting that failed to live up to its billing - I am truly amazed 🤷
:bigyikes: another good point you bring up!

Oh no. I like Vouthon too. But let’s get some perspective here. There isn’t a person here on CAF who wouldn’t have accepted information proving that Clinton (or Tillerson for that matter, for the left) had sold out to a foreign government, and regardless of the source.

Indeed, I like Tillerson, but if somebody told me he had definitive proof that Tillerson was suborned, I would want the information and, like Trump Jr, said, if it looked real, I would go to the authorities with it. I would also make it public unless I was instructed not to do so.

And my reference to Vouthon was only to demonstrate how easy it can be to project a damaging image on someone by adding suggestions to the picture when suspicions are running wild, no matter how preposterous the image might be.
I would most definitely do what Trump junior did if I was in a similar situation. It would be rather strange in fact if I didn’t, i.e., what if the information they had, proved treasonous or felonous?

How far back should we go? How about The Iran Contra scandal during Reagan’s second term? What do you suppose was really going on then, and do you think Reagan was implicated in the arms-for-hostages deal with Iran? In the case of Obama, there was likewise a cash-for-hostages deal. Politics is a dirty, unethical, immoral, and sometimes illegal business. My opinion: both Reagan and Obama should have been impeached.

Wasn’t that money Iran’s to begin with and had been frozen?

I hope no crime has been committed by DTJ and this whole incident blows over. It doesn’t look so good now but new info comes out every day, not all of it “fake news.” Still, the ethics involved is dubious, but I already said my piece on this issue in another post. I have no desire for Donald Trump Jr. to be prosecuted for legal wrongdoing, let alone Trump himself. Our country cannot afford it.
As have I

Frankly, I think President Reagan was as close to Sainthood as a President could come. He avoided major wars because he was anti-war.

This is exactly the point. US Politics actually politics in general is a corrupt playground for the corrupt. NOthing here is illegal but the Dems just have to cling to something because of their huge losses over the last decade with Obama in office. They should really try to concentrate on doing there actual jobs so people can start taking them seriously again.

He just encouraged civil wars in other countries and supported genocidal governments. A true humanitarian.

Does anyone?
I think there have been some qualified Presidents in the modern era: George Herbert Walker Bush and Clinton, to name two. In the more distant past, FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, LBJ, and Nixon. In my view, the verdict is still out on Trump.

We’re way off topic!

On a personal level, Reagan, like Carter, GWB and Obama, was probably a nice man and a good man. But none of them had any business being POTUS.
What sort of man/woman would you prefer and what needs to change in the future to get them to be elected as POTUS?

The Clinton’s have set the precedent as far as illegal and corrupt behavior.Yes,they are the barometer by which to judge all transgressions, perceived or otherwise. No one can dispute that.
And here I thought Christ was the standard by which we were to judge behaviour. 🤷

He truly was a humanitarian.

It’s been said Presidents are generally told of support of movements yet the actions of specific CIA agents in foreign countries are not always brought to the attention of the Commander in Chief. Thus why accusations of a shadow Government remain.

It may be off topic, but an important topic.

George Herbert Walker Bush had deep links to certain agencies and ** partially** led us to much of what we see in the Middle East today. The same with Clinton. Both were weak Commander in Chiefs.

President Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan would get my vote as overall best in the recent eras.

It wouldn’t be a felony. It would be your duty as a loyal American citizen. I apologize if I made any incorrect assumptions about you.
In my opinion, the law says that if I took information from a foreign entity to influence an election, I would be committing a felony. Now, I’m not a lawyer, so I may be wrong, but you’re not a lawyer, so you could very well be wrong too. Frankly, it isn’t my responsibility, but that on the law enforcement and any good American would contact the FBI if such a situation were presented to them.

How far back? These payments to Iran happened during the 2016 campaign - just last fall!!! We are not speaking of ancient events here …
