I suspect you’ll be disappointed with Catholic voters in 2016 as well. As you know, there is a difference between how you or anyone else believes that a Catholic should vote, and the way that they actually vote. Many times the “Catholic vote” has been an indicator of the final electoral college winner. Catholics preferred President Obama over Senator McCain and Governor Romney. I didn’t vote for either McCain or Romney, but I believe they are decent people. I cannot say the same about Mr. Trump. I just don’t see any way that Mr. Trump will win the Catholic vote in 2016. He’s insulted Mexicans, many of whom are Catholic, and his comments about women have been crude and unbecoming a serious presidential candidate. He’s certainly not the face of America that I want portrayed to the rest of the world. We’re better than that.
Unlike others on the forum who espouse their own personal interpretation as the teaching of the Church while jumping through verbal gymnastics worthy of an Olympic event (‘may’ really means ‘must’), I believe that Catholics with a well-formed conscience can read Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship and come to reasonable conclusion to vote for Trump, Clinton or abstain from voting for either.

To point to your example, Trump’s behavior in attacking the federal judge overseeing a lawsuit where he is a defendant as having it out for him because he is Mexican smacks of racism, and I think many (including Mexican-American Catholics who have endured the racism present in American society) could justly point out that racism is an intrinsic evil and not vote for Trump.

So, to answer your question, I don’t think I’d be disappointed.

Thank you for approving the document. I will disagree with you that I was quoting things out of context, but I will agree that my interpretation does not match your interpretation.
Your interpretation is rejected by the mutitude or bishops, cardinals and ,Popes I quoted ,:In fact you can not find a single member of the Magestrium that agrees with your interpretation

Shows that you can’t trust most politicians. He said during the campaign that Trump is a conman, but has apparently changed his mind in just a month or two and now fully supports Trump. Before the convention, most Republican politicians who said that Trump was not fit to be president will now say that he will make a great president.

Maybe he just doesn’t think that being a conman disqualifies one from being President.

Can I not vote for either candidate, or does that go against the various people you listed?

I’m still not a fan of Marco Rubio, but in regards to his change of heart. Maybe the real possibility of a Clinton presidency just hit him and he woke up.

Bill Kristol is now claiming that there will be another candidate:

Obviously it depends who it is, but how do you think this will effect Trump and Clinton?
Interesting - I keep hearing rumors of this 3rd party, but it doesn’t seem to have much substance. I can only think it would hurt the Republican nominee in the general election. And isn’t it too late to get another person on the ballot in every state - by all accounts, that sounds like something that can’t be done overnight.

I do think that a goodly number of Conservatives are very concerned on the effect Donald Trump may have on other Republican races.

Gosh, what an election year!

But as Trump say, “Bill Kristol has been wrong for 2yrs-an embarrassed loser.” As we all know, anyone who opposes Trump is a “loser”.
In fairness to Trump, I am hardpressed to think of a time Kristol was right about something. He’s the guy I wondered how he ever got to the position he is in of being a national pundit when he was so clearly bad at it, and then I found out his father was famous and then it made sense.

I’ve always wondered who Maureen Dowd’s parents were for her to get an esteemed column at the NYT with an utter lack of talent.

I’m not a fan of Kristol. I guess he’s just made Trump’s insult list along with Mitt “Choker” Romney, Gonzalvo “Mexican” Curiel, ,etc. Here’s a complete list of Trump insults through May of this year:

Being a master insulter is one of Trumps main talents.

My personal favorite… John “I got caught” McCain…I mean what a POW loser, am I right?

The things Mr. Trumps says about good men and women truly chills my soul. He’s made it pretty clear that he doesn’t sleep much. Maybe that’s when he takes meetings with Lucifer…I imagine it much the way Gollum is presented in the LOTR trilogy.

Anyway, thanks for the compendium.

I guess Bill Kristol was already on the insult list:

“dopey”“even dumber”“a sad case”“his predictions are always wrong”“Dopey”“lost all credibility”

Sure I am, When I look at these parties the priority of concern for me is a comparison to see which fits Catholic moral teaching with a formed conscience. So a couple aspects come to mind with morality-human rights and formed conscience.

The weight of the evil of the democratic party, I find there to be no comparison in other parties. So while I agree with being vast and multi with issues and concern, I can’t vote Democratic and further imho I think a very case can be made the Democrats have truthfully done nothing but moved further away from Catholic teaching since Kennedy. And that continues to evolve with Hillary and this party with abortion, religious freedom, socialized meds and suppression of in fact a formed conscience.

So personally the people of Trump and Hillary present a secondary problem for me. In my formed conscience I can’t by understanding the above move past the concept of this party with “rights”. I can assure you I never in my life thought at the end of my life I’d be here defending the Catholic Church and Little Sisters of the Poor but I happen to think its an outrage how the Democrats have attacked the Church.

The Trump Hillary show is Donald tells anyone who he thinks is talking stupid, they are stupid, and Hillary like Obama assumes everyone is already stupid. I know, her arrogance came with manners. Not really a redeeming quality imho.

But I get why people came to believe in much of the Democrats concept of socialized meds, education etc.

Thats not shooting straight?
But you cannot say with a straight face that Trump is a true conservative. Read the posts, read the replies and comments throughout the web. Read what people post on right wing Fox News about trump.

Trump is a loose cannon that will hurt a lot of people worldwide.
