This part of the article is a good list of why Trump should not be president:
Certainly Trump would not be the first president with moral failings and weak principles, but what sets him apart is that he boasts in these faults.
Trump has boasted of infidelities, profited off gambling, mocked the handicapped, cheered and offered financial assistance for his supporters who fight protestors, supported abortion (until his fortuitous change of heart before the election), called for war crimes against innocent people, demonized minorities and immigrants, knowingly played upon racist fears, promoted open racists through social media, promoted conspiracy theories, and crudely treated women. And the list grows every single day.
Even when Trump pretends to recognize the importance of minorities and groups, he very openly uses them and their culture as pawns: I love Hispanics, because I’m eating a taco bowl! I love Christians, because, look, I own a Bible! I love black people, because look at my African American over there!

Nearly all if not all the people basically calling Trump a racist on this thread are not Trump supporters and/or are Hillary Clinton supporters, I think it’s fair to say. So they wouldn’t support Trump even if they didn’t think he was a racist, I think it’s fair to presume. This is the thing, you will oppose Trump and think he’s a racist, many Republicans will think the opposite and then what do people who are Independent think?

This part of the article is a good list of why Trump should not be president:
The 2012 Benghazi attack took place on the evening of September 11, 2012, when Islamic militants attacked the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, killing U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith. Stevens was the first U.S. Ambassador killed in the line of duty since 1979. The attack has also been referred to as the Battle of Benghazi.[9]
**Several hours later, a second assault targeted a different compound about one mile away, killing CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty.**10][11] Ten others were also injured in the attacks.
**Many Libyans condemned the attacks and praised the late ambassador. **They staged public demonstrations condemning the militias (formed during the 2011 civil war to oppose leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi)[12][13][14] that were suspected of the attacks.
The United States immediately increased security worldwide at diplomatic and military facilities and began investigating the Benghazi attack.[15][16] In the aftermath of the attack, State Department officials were criticized for denying requests for additional security at the consulate prior to the attack. In her role as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton subsequently took responsibility for the security lapses.[17]
On August 6, 2013, it was reported that the U.S. had filed criminal charges against several individuals, including militia leader Ahmed Abu Khattala, for alleged involvement in the attacks.[18] Khattala has been described by Libyan and U.S. officials as the Benghazi leader of Ansar al-Sharia, which was listed in January 2014 by the U.S. Department of State as a terror organization.[19][20][21] On the weekend of June 14, 2014, U.S. Army special operations forces, in coordination with the FBI, captured Khattala in Libya.[22]

In the wake of the Trump’s repeated claims that Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s heritage make him unfit to preside over lawsuits against him, Republican Senator Lindsay Graham said, “This is the most un-American thing from a politician since Joe McCarthy. If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it.” He added, “There’ll come a time when the love of country will trump hatred of Hillary.”

Trump is not a racist but these kind of outbursts/attacks on people are his Achilles Heel. I think he is an egomaniac who lacks social graces because he thinks he has reached a position of power where he can dispense with them.
Maybe so.

On the other hand, he might simply be saying what many people have observed, and without either of them being racist in intent or action. Racism is not the same thing as a lack of social graces or political correctness. Racism is intent to harm or actions that harm, solely on the basis of race.

Nobody has, as yet, demonstrated a single instance of genuine racism on the part of Donald Trump. Where are the black, Hispanic, Asian or female employees who say Trump bypassed them in hiring, promotion or anything that actually affected them? Undoubtedly, the Democrats and their media have been intensively searching for such people, but have not yet found them.

On the other hand, the overwhelmingly largest percentages of abortions in the U.S. are among blacks and Hispanics. Deaths of their children, aided in every way by the likes of Hillary Clinton. And where is the sympathy for the nearly all Hispanic United Farm Workers Union which opposes “open borders” because it is their economic ruination? Well, it doesn’t exist in the heart of a Hillary Clinton because she and her party want to change the demographics of the U.S., and make the racist assumption that illegal immigrants and their progeny will always be Democrats.

Paul Ryan doesn’t care if Trump is a racist or not. He just wants to win the election - he doesn’t want Trump to alienate minority - especially Hispanic - voters. (We don’t need to worry about the Trump haters / committed Democrats - we need to worry about those who are on the fence in a handful of states that are in play. Hispanics in Arizona for example. Suburbia who are undecided - especially women.) We also need to control the branding of Trump by the mainstream media. (But Trump does, on the other hand, need to keep his base motivated - the working class whites.)

The real gaffe here is that this is such a story, right - we should be on the attack against Hillary. In terms of choosing a leader, the fact that she left Americans to die on her watch is much more significant than the fact that Trump hates Mexicans because he is in this insane fight about a wall and immigration as part of his campaign and this Trump University lawsuit. It is called getting off point. But it makes Trump look like a fool.

Sometimes Trump reminds me of Ian Paisley (though Paisley was a much more experienced, skilled politican and man of conviction). Paisley once held up a sign in the presence of JP II that the Pope was the AntiChrist (or did he yell it out?) Can’t remember. I do think Trump walks this line (bigotry) - and when he says stuff like “I love Hispanics” eating a taco on TV, I really wonder if he does actually hate them the way Paisley did Catholics. (he has that same white orange skin tone too) But Trump is not Paisley; he is just tone deaf, and, let’s face it, he is also a real jerk. In the end, he is the kind of person who judges (uses?) each person individually, including Hispanics - but if they cross him in his mind it gets personal (this goes back to getting fired by Macy’s, NBC, don’t forget) and he will attack inappropriately, on all levels. These gaffes will be what costs him the election if he doesn’t get this under control.

I think he is getting burned enough by this to back up a little bit. He was very chaste on it last night on O’Reilly - he knows when he has crossed the line. I don’t like Trump and I hate this kind of thing - but I dislike and distrust Hillary Clinton a lot more. I want people like Christie running the country. That is why I am supporting Trump. But he needs to get off of this message - fast. And not go back there.

Wow! Just Wow. I wouldn’t know how to respond to this.

Lindsay Graham has been more himself in this process than I’ve ever seen. I’m starting to think he was the pick of the litter.

Opposition to Trump doesn’t make him the “pick of the litter”. He was always that, as were all the other contenders. Some have now backed Trump and some haven’t. But nothing in that makes Graham any better or worse than any of the others.

According to you.

By what measure is GRaham somehow “better” than, say, Cruz or Jeb Bush?
Cruz earned the disdain of his own party. No amount of silk could camouflage the sow’s ear. Jeb would have been a better candidate than Trump but couldn’t withstand the frontal assault waged by Trump. He also had a regrettable last name. Graham, at least, was true to himself throughout; he just didn’t appeal to the masses. He wouldn’t pander to get a vote. Actually, he had quite a sense of humor at the end.

Even if 4 people were killed because of some mistake on Clinton’s part, this is pretty small when compared to the more than 4000 US service members killed because of George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq. 4 deaths compared to 4000 is quite a big difference in magnitude.

I think Jeb would have been a good candidate as well. Perhaps, before hand, he should have changed his last name and gotten a disguise or something. 😃

I also liked Rubio.

Trump is not my choice at all.

In the news:
A super-PAC supporting Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton is out with a new ad that exorciates Donald Trump for mocking a disabled reporter last year.

It’s the first ad in a $20 million buy that will run from Wednesday through the summer in the swing states of Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Nevada, Colorado, Iowa and New Hampshire.

The ad rehashes comments and gestures Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, made on the trail in November, when he mimicked a reporter while making sudden body motions. Critics charged Trump with making light of the reporter’s joint disorder.

The ad uses the parents of a disabled child to criticize Trump’s behavior.

“When I saw Donald Trump mock a disabled person, I was just shocked,” says Lauren Glaros, an Ohio mother whose daughter, Grace, has a spinal disability. Immediately after her comment, the ad shows news footage of Trump making the gestures, before a brief explanation of the reporter’s disability.

“The children at Grace’s school all know never to mock her and so for an adult to mock someone with a disability is shocking.”
thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/282397-pro-clinton-super-pac-hits-trump-for-mocking-disabled

Good ad showing Trump mocking disabled people! The Washington Post has a new article about this ad with the title, “This brutal new ad portrays Donald Trump as a full-blown sociopath”.

I see a bunch of comments about Hillary Clinton there. Utterly irrelevant to the question of whether or not Donald Trump is a racist or not.
I reiterate what I said in response to somebody else on this thread - If Trump’s comments are going to be scrutinised on race, ancestry, and they should, then so should the Clintons.

Now the un- endorsements are rolling in; Senator Mark Kirk from IL just unendorsed Trump. ( if that is a word)

He’s meat. He rode into the Senate in the 2010 by 2% and has been an ineffective Senator (somewhat because of health issues but also as the farthest left Republican in the Senate on social issues). He’s going to lose badly.
