Wait. I thought they were the ones for free expression. I am getting confused.
And Donald Trump is all for free expression. That’s why he has people removed from his rallies who don’t support him and won’t allow reporters from the Washington Post and a number of other news organizations.

If you mean that Hillary is “for sale” because she accepts donations for her campaign, then you’d have to put Trump in the same boat, since he is also accepting donations for his campaign. He is no longer self-funding.
The money that gets donated to campaigns is bad enough, but at least the candidates have to spend it on their own or others’ campaigns. It doesn’t go into their own pocket.

What Hillary Clinton has been doing is taking money personally, usually coinciding in time with official actions on her part benefitting the payer ; a very different thing. And the Clinton Foundation is just a personal slush fund too.

He has every right to eject whoever he want’s to from his rallies. He’s paying for hall rentals in which to address his supporters. Protesters have no 1st Amendment right to be disruptive at these venues, anymore than they would in someone’s church or home.

He wouldn’t want any “disruptive” protesters like the ones I posted about earlier who actually appear to have been supporters:
The suspicion of protesters reached a point at which Trump supporters were informing on each other for not being “real” supporters. One woman pointed security toward a couple sitting quietly in their seats. “Them,” she mouthed.
The couple seemed baffled and denied to a security agent that they were anything but genuine Trump admirers. He waved them toward the exit and said, “Let’s go.”
Afterward the informer, who declined to give her name, grinned as onlookers congratulated her. “I heard one of them say ‘Never Trump’,” she said. “And one held up three fingers, like this.”
She held up her hand in a Boy Scout salute.
What did the three fingers signify?
“I have no idea,” she said.

I am Catholic loyal to the Pope. I’m also a first generation American of Mexican descent. It bugs the heck out of me when I see protesters against Trump or anything Republican to be waiving the Mexican Flag. Why did they come here in the first place? Because their government would not supply them with their needs. Both of my parents came here during the revolution and one of the factions took a large ranch from my moms father and was told to leave or die. They lived in the hills in caves and where ever they could until their oldest son made arrangements (legally) for him and the whole family to migrate to the US.

Growing up I was told that as Mexican American we were to vote Democrat all the time so I did. The Demos are for the poor, for the Mexican, etc., etc. Later I started thinking for myself and realize that it seems the Demos were against most if not all the teachings of the CC. Abortion, gay marriages, open borders, etc. My parents had to wait for several years and it was hard for them to come legally to the US and for many years each year they had to renew their green card. They did not complain. But now many come here illegally as they don’t want to go through the process and when they are here they want the best the US can give them, many prefer to be on welfare, food stamps than go out and find jobs. However, they still want to wave their Mexican flags and holler that much of SW US belongs still to Mexico. I say it they don’t want to abide by US laws, then go back to Mexico and wave your Mexican flag all you want.

Even though I may not be a big fan of Trump, I definitely am no fan of Clinton and the Demos who want to legalize all illegals simply for their vote. So my vote will be more against Clinton than for Trump.

I also will NOT, not now, or ever again vote for a party that spits on the face of the CC with their abortion rights (which is not a right actually-the US Constitution guarantees the right of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness but how an you have liberty and pursue happiness when the life of the unborn is murdered in the womb) and gay marriage rights, which is against CC teachings.

Think about it: If Catholics would only vote according to Church teachings and follow the Church regarding the Non-Negotiables, I feel that this country would change almost overnight for the better. BTW the five non-negotiables are: abortion, homosexual marriage, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research and human cloning. Now you tell me which party is for all of those, and which party is against most of these? I would vote for the lesser of two evils.
Look up the Voters Guide for Serious Catholics . Also look at how many Democratic representatives call themselves “Catholic” but spit in the face of the CC and the Pope by going against Catholic Teachings. They are what I call CINO Catholics In Name Only.

So freedom of expression is only allowed when someone or some news organizations says what Donald Trump wants them to say. That doesn’t sound all that free to me.

If they choose to print outright lies like that headline, they are free to do so. Just as Mr. Trump is free to revoke their credentials to his press conferences and rallies - he’s under no obligation to provide them with privileged access, especially when they’ve abused it. If they want to attend, they are free to get tickets like everyone else.

Groups like “Catholic Answers” came up with “5 non negotiables”.

vox-nova.com/2014/03/07/no-more-non-negotiables/

But Pope Francis says, “I have never understood the expression non-negotiable values. Values are values, and that is it. I can’t say that, of the fingers of a hand, there is one less useful than the rest. Whereby I do not understand in what sense there may be negotiable values.”

catholicnewsagency.com/news/all-values-are-non-negotiable-pope-says-in-new-interview/

And "The “Voters Guide for Serious Catholics” is produced by the same organization, the lay private internet business calling itself “Catholic Answers”. And the USCCB has previously discouraged its use.

catholicnewsagency.com/news/new_voter_guide_for_catholics_an_alternative_for_usccb_guide/

And in their own Faithful Citizenship guide, the bishops have this to say:
  1. “During election years, there may be many handouts and voter guides that are produced and distributed. We encourage Catholics to seek those resources authorized by their own bishops, their state Catholic conferences, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.”

Actually some have gotten tickets like everyone else, did not wear press badges nor sit in the press section and were still kicked out.

I agree.
Trump appeals to the worst fears in people, specifically their xenophobia about people streaming in over the border with no intention of adopting the values of their new country. This is a stereotype that more than enough people have come to believe in precisely because of people waiving the Mexican flag in their faces and burning the American one as they are stomping it underfoot.

Democrats are as much to blame for the current state of affairs due to their identity politics and thereby implicitly encouraging this kind of thing. The more that Hispanics blend into the American mosaic, they less they can be counted upon as the Democratic voting block that they now are.

But Pope Francis says, “I have never understood the expression non-negotiable values. Values are values, and that is it. I can’t say that, of the fingers of a hand, there is one less useful than the rest. Whereby I do not understand in what sense there may be negotiable values.”
He’s right of course. Values are just values; they’re subjective judgments of what one prefers, and nothing more. It’s like saying I like oranges better than I like tangerines.

Principles are something else again. If there are no principles, there’s no such thing as morality at all. Principles are immutable truths. When it comes to Church teachings (which are NOT “values”) those are principles held to be the truth because of the authority given by Christ to the Church.

“Donald Trump suggests President Obama was involved with Orlando shooting.”
Washington Post original headline
It was later modified. (you actually have to search a little online to even find it now)
Why’d Trump do it? He was apparently outraged by a headline on a Post story that summarized comments he made about the shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
“I am no fan of President Obama, but to show you how dishonest the phony Washington Post is, they wrote, ‘Donald Trump suggests President Obama was involved with Orlando shooting’ as their headline,” Trump wrote. “Sad!”
That headline was the result of an interview Trump gave to Fox News on Monday morning.
“Look, we’re led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he’s got something else in mind,” Trump said of Obama. “And the something else in mind – you know, people can’t believe it. People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can’t even mention the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’ There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable. There’s something going on.”
Trump’s remarks about Obama were widely interpreted to be sinister in nature.
CNNPolitics described Trump’s comments as a “conspiracy theory” and said it is “similar to how Trump talked about Obama when Trump was leading the ‘birther’ attacks against the president five years ago.”
The Post later adjusted its story to make the headline tamer. The headline now reads, “Donald Trump seems to connect President Obama to Orlando shooting.”
money.cnn.com/2016/06/13/media/donald-trump-washington-post-credentials/index.html

The modified headline was not that different from the original one and Mr. Trump did say about Obama, “There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable. There’s something going on.” What else should the Washington Post have concluded that Trump was referring to? Maybe he should have been clearer if he wasn’t insinuating that Obama was somehow connected with what happened in Orlando. I don’t think that the original headline or the revised one were out of line.

Trump also later tweeted, “Media fell all over themselves criticizing what DonaldTrump “may have insinuated about @POTUS.” But he’s right”. So this just proves that Donald was insinuating that Obama was somehow involved. Donald confirmed it.

This guy makes me so mad I cannot think straight.

Ban on Muslims? Wow, that’s not Christian at all. We should accept these people with open arms into our communities. We should show them love! * We must meet the forces of hate with the power of love. *

Surveillance on American citizens who happen to be Muslim? Did we not learn anything from the Japanese internment camps? This scares the heck out of me! What is to stop him from spying on you or me, once he has the power? Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Yes, he is pro-life! Great! There are lots of nut jobs who I agree with on Abortion who would I would never vote for.

God bless you for your post and best wishes to you and your family.

Of course, keep putting pressure on her to reform and come clean and halt fracking and make and promote policies to reduce climate change, as well as bring about a true Bernie-style revolution, including not only more equitable distribution of wealth (making the rich pay their fair share of taxes and wages to wage-earners), free or inexpensive college, free professional child-care, and paid maternity leave. Maybe guaranteed wages, even for the unemployed (and don’t call it welfare), at the very least wages for stay-at-home poor moms with kids (that is REALLY hard work for the benefit of society and worth good wages).

I think she would be amenable to all that. If she had only known regular, decent people would pour out their money to her campaign the way they did to Bernie, she may not have gone astray in the 1st place. There is hope for her reformation.

There is virtually no hope for Trump to be an acceptable president.
I think Hillary – and you – are smart to base your campaign on how bad the Donald is, considering that she doesn’t have a lot of positives.

As for your suggestions for her, moving further to the left, I won’t complain if she does. The more unpopular she is the better, as far as I’m concerned.

Everyone loves him, Mexicans, gays, Muslims. It’s an incredible thing.

Although all joking aside, I think his views on gay issues is that of a cosmopolitan New Yorker so there’s some truth to what he says.
I long ago realized that, in some people’s minds, having morals is worse than being bigoted.

Not that anyone would mention bigotry in an election discussion. 😉

If he says he said something different than how everyone with a reasonable command of the English language would interpret it, he meant something different. And people will defend that. After all, he didn’t say he would murder noncombatants when he said he would take out terrorist’s families for ‘retribution’. And he didn’t say that he wanted to torture after he said he wanted to do more than waterboarding, which is a mild form of ‘torture’. And he didn’t say anything racist when he said that a judge on his case shouldn’t oversee his case because he happens to be, we believe, Mexican and he is unbiased because ‘we’re going to build a wall’.
