I was sitting in the dentist office today waiting to for the call to go back when I picked up a issue of “Ladies Home Journal” to read something about healthy heart issues.
Instead I came acoss a article titled Donor 401, a story how this donor fathered hundreds of babies through artifical insemination. The clinic said this guy was a very popular choice.
So I read on, and found a lady posted a note in the clinic wanting to know if anyone else used donor 401. Come to find out she got a boat load of responses. This guy has babies all over the country, and most of them favored, easy to see they came from the same man. Ages ranged from birth to 3 years. I never saw anything like it.
The article had pictures of these babies with their mothers, the whole thing was bizarre. Folks, I can’t imagine how some people think. In the eyes of LHJ they saw nothing wrong with it.
I was called back before I could finish the article, so I don’t know the marital status of these mothers. I’m gonna assume most wanted a baby without the bother of a husband, some were probably lesbian couples. I wont even go into what our Faith says about this, but I still don’t see how a secular couple goes along with this. Another man’s baby,? Even if it is via lab, just seems outta whack to me. Or am I just old fashiioned?
I tried to put myself in the donor’s shoes, knowing I have all these children just “out there” would really bother me.
I did read he no longer donates, because he recently married. Donors of non active men = high sperm counts. But I’m thinking a man who allows this is not living a celibate life, married or not.
Apparently these women pick out the doror. I wonder if they get a scrapbook of proposed fathers. If you want a athletic child pick from here, scientist go here, art and lit pick from this group. Same for physical attributes, pick here if you want a good chance at blues eyes or curly hair.
It reminded how I use to buy and trade baseball cards. Owell.
