I am getting irritated w/ the news media lately. They keep bringing up the ordination of women. As if John Paul II was the only one keeping that from happening. I have even heard “Chris Matthews” of MSNBC say that he wishes the Catholic Church would allow the ordination of women. This was just hours after the Holy Fathers death. Am I the only one who thinks that this is pretty much a closed position of the church. I hear the media talking about how weekly mass attendance is down significantly in the U.S. and Europe. So they talk about allowing women to be ordained, taking another stand on divorce, abortion, and artificial contraception. Lets just bend the rules make it easier, water things down is what I hear. Let’s not take a look at our actions and our positions on these issues. It’s our fault that we as a people don’t attend mass as much as before. I am 24 years old and you know what I loved so much of the Pope. It wasn’t that he tried to seem hip and cool and bring things down to our level. It was the fact that he stood for what is right even though he caught grief for it. That he didn’t compormise on moral issues and that he did so in a loving way. Have you noticed that church attendance is down in the countries that have so much and our so wealthy. But Catholocism is thriving in countries living in poverty. I don’t know about the rest of you but that speaks volumes to me. That because we have so much that we don’t have time for god anymore. But that’s not what I hear when I turn on the T.V. I hear the next pope needs to reexamine these different moral teachings to help bring more people back to the church. They just don’t get it do they? I will pray for them
