This is somewhat old news, but I just heard of this recently. I haven’t found threads about this at all on the different Catholic forums - I think because most Catholics didn’t grew up with him, as many Protestants have.

My neighbor was just telling me about this though. Wow! And he was on EWTN (video on his site)

He was on the Journey Home a while back with Marcus Grodi telling about his conversion.

I never heard of him. The only “doughnut man” I know is the one who said “Gotta make the donuts”. Granted, I was confused when I saw the topic. 😛

We watched him even though he was not Catholic ( one of the very few). I never knew this! I can’t wait to tell my wife and kids! they will be excited even if it is old news!

Kind of a funny story…an evangelical Protestant radio station awhile back asked what happened to the Donut Man - the announcer said she hasn’t seen him in awhile and loved his show - what a great Christian he was, on a mission from God obviously, etc…and if anybody knew anything about what he was doing now or a website to please call in. 😃

I called in and told them they could tell their viewers he was alive and well, and could be seen in the afternoons after school on EWTN, and gave them his website.

They must have checked it out - they never aired my phone conversation or talked about him again that I know of.

scroll down to Rob Evans - and there’s a scan of the article from the National Catholic Register on him. It’s on their site, but you have to have an account to read it.
The scan is hard to read, but I did catch one thing I find fascinating. Through reading Aquinas’ account of Mary, he understood it wasn’t idolatry and recognized Mary as the most Christ-centered person to ever live. That is probably the first conversion story I have seen (okay, I haven’t read a lot) that has Mary understood so early in their experience.

I better read some more Aquinas!

Yeah, that’s really awesome!

The article is here, but you have to subscribe to NCR to view it. Fortunately we do, though I don’t have a sign-in name there yet.

I’m going to search through my old issues though, to try to find it.

There’s another article though, at the wikipedia link. Also the whole Journey Home show is on his site - I’ve haven’t viewed the whole thing yet though.

Actually if I could re-title this thread, I’d name it, Donut Man Discovers Catholicism, as he prefers to say, as it says in the article.

God bless him!

Yep. I love common sense, logical approach. When he talks about Mary and the saints, he mentions he didn’t have a problem with intercession, even when he was Pentecostal. On *Journey *Home, regarding Mary, he said “is she dead or is she alive? Alive…in heaven.” He used to tell his kids “when I go to heaven, I will be up there praying for you…that’s one thing the Catholics have right!” (paraphrased). Isn’t that refreshing?

Yeah! It’s great! 🙂

He has been appearing at the annual Midwest Catholic Family Conference in Wichita Ks for a few years now.

He is pretty good.

Other than that I don’t know much about him.

That’s what I thought, too, until I remembered that the little doughnut guy (Michael Vale) died a couple years ago. 😦

I have been trying to find contact information for the Donut Man, Rob Evans. None of the links are working. Does anyone know what is up?

Thanks.
Nancy

LOL, weird. I remember my Baptist parents getting my sister a video of one of his shows when we were really young.
