Seen it a hundred times, at least, on these forums, on Yahoo, in the National Enquirer. . .

My response?

Today could be our last day on this earth. I don’t think we should worry about the prophacies. We should thank God for today and pray to be ready to hear his voice when it’s our time. We aren’t promised tomorrow. We should live each day as if it’s our last. Easy to say but hard to do.
 
I have been seeing a lot of threads on this supposed “prophecy”. I haven’t said anything before, because being a Methodist, not Catholic, I was leaving it to you guys…BUT,

Am I dumb or something?? The prophecy says the last pope will be “Peter the Roman”??..Aren’t all popes, in a sense, “Peter the Roman??” Isn’t it a little like saying…I don’t know, “Mrs. Smith, the woman”, or “Baltimore Oriole, the bird”??
I mean, each is the Bishop of Rome (the “Roman”), & each is called the successor of Peter (Petrus)…
So how much of a prophecy is this? Isn’t just prophesying that Tuesday comes after Monday, & that on Tuesday 2+2 will =4???

If St Malachy’s prophecies don’t predict things in detail, that’s fine, as the primary purpose of prophecy is to teach, not predict.

Yeah, I have 😉 days like that, too…usually after watching the :bigyikes: evening news…
 
This “prophecy”, as well as many others including from Marian Apparitions confirm one thing in my mind and should in everyone’s mind:

That we must always be ready. We must always be in the state of grace. We do not know when our master will return, we do not know when the bridegroom will return, we do not know when Jesus will return. It could be today, it could be several thousands of years from today. But I will make sure I’m ready, and you all should too.

The rest doesn’t really matter.

Well we have to take that when it comes! It will not be good to live near the close of time : " … and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. 25‘There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. 26People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27Then they will see “the Son of Man coming in a cloud” with power and great glory. 28Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.’ (Luke 21:24-28)

‘Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day catch you unexpectedly, 35like a trap. What I am trying to say, is that the story (our story from the creation) and to the end (the end of the life on earth in this condition) is guarded by God. One day the last of the last days will come and it will be filled with persecution and horror. I think that if we start to worry about those days, we walk right into the tap of Satan. What cannot please Satan more than scared catholics, paralyzed and not able to help others to find Christ?

Jesus says: ‘So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today’. (Mt 6:34) THAT IS THE BEST ATTITUDE WE CAN HAVE!

Anyone pay any attention to the first reading last Sunday, the 4th Sunday of Lent?

Reading 1
2 Chr 36:14-16, 19-23

In those days, all the princes of Judah, the priests, and the people
added infidelity to infidelity,
practicing all the abominations of the nations
and polluting the LORD’s temple
which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.
Early and often did the LORD, the God of their fathers,
send his messengers to them,
for he had compassion on his people and his dwelling place.
But they mocked the messengers of God,
despised his warnings, and scoffed at his prophets,
until the anger of the LORD against his people was so inflamed
that there was no remedy.
Their enemies burnt the house of God,
tore down the walls of Jerusalem,
set all its palaces afire,
and destroyed all its precious objects.
Those who escaped the sword were carried captive to Babylon,
where they became servants of the king of the Chaldeans and his sons
until the kingdom of the Persians came to power.
All this was to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah:
“Until the land has retrieved its lost sabbaths,
during all the time it lies waste it shall have rest
while seventy years are fulfilled.”

Pope Benedict is one of those messengers. But God through the centuries sends us hundreds of them, but we who are foolish don’t follow or listen. e are doomed to be destroyed because of our choice. As for me, me and my house will listen to our Pope and follow.
 
I have read they are a hoax, and can’t recall the gist of it except it was a theologian that siad this

These prophecies are more like horoscopes! The glory of the olive? Give me a break!
 
If God chooses our time to reveal himself to the world, will it be any different for us, than those who die in a car accident. One person may be ready to meet God and the other may not, though for both it came at an unexpected time. So pray you may be ready in every season of your life, in sorrow and in gladness, seek God with all of your heart, so that you will be found worthy. Jesus said his purpose was that “they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
