Douay rheims vs Douay rheims Challoners

I recently picked up photo copies of the original douay rheims from 1582 and been comparing with the challoner’s . There is not much difference between the two. I heard a lot of people say that it was a major revision that it was not the douay rheims anymore but a totally new translation. I have to disagree because there are only minor changes. for example the word ordering, modern English and excluding the Latinism from the original. What Do you guys think of the two? and which one do you prefer? the Original or Challoner’s douay rheims?
 
They are both hard to understand. I like the Douay Confraternity edition that came out in the 1940s.

I might be wrong, but to me, the Challoner is simply an update. When the Douay Rheims was written, the English language was different and some of the formers letters were sometimes used.

Also, V was typically used instead of U, as U had not become universally it’s own letter by then.

Similar to how the RSV-2CE is an update of the RSV-CE

oh yes I agree. a lot of people say that it was based off on KJV. It’s more based on the original douay Rheims than anything
