Down the memory hole! "CNN airs photo of Biden and son with Washington Redskins logo removed from son's hat"

If CNN did this, it should not go totally unexpected, as they have been a shill for Biden’s campaign for some time.
 
Oh, the outrage! Some person at CNN removed a logo for the Washington Redskins from a knit cap. This is terrible!

I have no idea why it was done, but, really, do we care? It says more about the photo editor than anything else. Big deal.

Advocacy of what?

The redskins name is fraught here in the Washington area. So what if CNN wants to erase all traces of something they see as racist? It has nothing to do with Biden. Most everyone around here has redskins memorabilia.

They altered a photo. That is not reporting…its advocacy. Even if you don’t want to attribute their advocacy to Biden, its still advocacy of a viewpoint. What it is NOT, is reporting.

Why not just post a different picture?
 
What’s the viewpoint they are advocating.

My own take is that they are advocating for Biden…not wanting a picture of him with his son wearing a Redskins (racist) hat.

That’s silly. We all know the color. Do you think anyone would care?

I’m flummoxed why CNN did it, it seems silly. You could probably find at least a few clips of Biden and Trump saying “Redskins” in the football context.

My point exactly. Like on the other thread, I’m confused why you try to inject politics into absolutely everything. Sometimes it’s just a stupid editorial decision and has nothing to do with Biden or Trump.

I disagree. Everything is political…everything. Sports…data collection on COVID…whether or not the media cares about alleged sex abuse cases…the presumption of innocence, etc. Every day I’m amazed about what else has become politicized.
 
Why the need to edit the truth by CNN? What does that have to do with reporting the facts honestly?

Nope, sometimes it’s not politics that are motivating a person. However, right now, there’s a lot of people who want to make everything about politics.

I’m not bashing you. I normally enjoy our interactions. I’m just on overload.

I’m biting my tongue every day here, believe it or not.
 
For what its worth, I believe you are an honest broker. We have a different view on a number of fronts, but based on the sum total of your posts that I have read, you seem to have an open mind.

I get the “overload” statement. I’m getting overload from news stories highlighting double standards, and from some of my friends. (example: They went after me on the “selfishness” of the salon owner in Dallas who opened up during the shutdown when she said she needed to support her family. They were OK with the protests that they supported).

I have friends with different viewpoints (as well as adult children), and we debate vigorously, but then have an adult beverage, break bread and engage in fellowship. You seem to be a person that if I knew you personally, would fall into that category.

Thank you, and the same to you.

I have purposely refrained from the one or two line snarky responses of late. Or tried.

Over the past month or two, I’ve realized a few things:
  • I’m an independent, so it’s stupid to try to “defend” the Democrats on every point, just because I don’t like Trump and won’t vote for him.
  • I don’t like a lot of the things the Democrats say/do.
  • No one is totally evil or totally good. You can find good things in everyone.
  • Discussion is much better than snappy one liners.
  • This level of intensity just can’t be kept up for another two months.

Not that it’s related, but this makes me think of that hockey team (google it), the Windsor Swastikas. Yes, that was a real team. They existed before someone decided to use the symbol for something else. But I doubt anyone not looking for controversy would ever show an unaltered team photo.
