Waiting in line to vote is not a problem. The problem is that it is not necessary to make it so hard to vote.
Those is rich, well-connected neighborhoods have shorter lines at better facilities. Those in poorer neighborhoods have fewer polling places, are understaffed, and have to wait much longer in line. Also many people with working class jobs can only vote on their way home from work, when everyone else in their neighborhood is voting. With kids at home they often cannot afford to wait in line for hours, and so they reluctantly have to give up their right to vote because of an arbitrary system over which they have no control. Those really privileged, like Trump, can just drop their ballot in the mail - a privilege that Trump does not want to share with the rest of the citizens.LeafByNiggle:![]()

I, and a few thousand others, do it in my county every election cycle.
Sometimes it rains. Sometimes it is cold.
But we deal with it just fine.
There never was such a time everywhere. It is currently a state-by-state issue. And even then, it is limited to just a few hours - not the whole day. But I have a feeling you still want to allow people like Trump to vote by mail, right? We need to return to the days when voting was restricted to one day,a paid day off
If these measures result in more people voting, and if more people voting happens to benefit Democrats, then so be it. The goal of expanding voting is a good one regardless of who it benefits. Since US voter turnout trails that in most other developed countries, we could stand lots of improvement in that area. The Dems idea to make implementt only vote in ballots in addition to early voting, which keeps getting earlier and earlier.,clearly in an attempt to get an edge on the results.
I saw no argument - only a claim that we “need to” do that. An argument usually comes with some reasons.I am merely making the argument for one voting day.
Then contradicting his own premise . . .Except there isn’t voter fraud.
I am surprised there have been ANY convictions of this exceedingly difficult-to-prove crime which I think is likely rampant. There have been very few convictions over the last twenty years.
They were counting absentee votes well into December in 2016. Trump didn’t like it that most of these votes went against him, even though they didn’t affect the electoral college.Mail ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 3, and received by Nov. 6.
What do you expect him to do? Drone the polling centers? When Trump appointed Kobach to look for it, he couldn’t find it.
Well I didn’t.I expected Kobach to find voter . . .
Which is why we don’t have any such laws. (It was an attempt by Tbolt at an ipse dixit fallacy by presupposition).laws restricting the right to vote are unnecessary.
Another (also unpersuasive) attempt at a built-in presupposition. This entire thread is based on voting by mail and there is a wish to make that more difficult.
Bull. Those is rich, well-connected neighborhoods have shorter lines at better facilities.
Good that you have a strong bladder. The line to vote where I live is usually a couple of miles long.
That’s all it takes.Sure, in very small numbers.
