Up to 1,000 protesters have clashed with police in eastern Germany in riots reportedly sparked by the arrival of 250 migrants.

Police said protesters shouting “foreigners out” and carrying banners against the “asylum flood” threw bottles and stones at busloads of asylum seekers arriving in Heidenau, near Dresden.

At least 31 officers were hurt in violent scuffles as police used tear gas to disperse crowds.

Europe has been overwhelmed with refugees. It is time for the US to take in a few million refugees and help out with this problem.
 
Dear Lord please help all refugees/migrants.Please guide our governments to remember these are human beings and to have compassion for them and help them. Please Lord guide us to always remember those less fortunate than ourselves that we will always help one another and care-just as You taught us.Thank You Lord for hearing our prayers Amen

I’d argue it’s time for something to be done about their countries so these poor people aren’t forced out of their homeland because of the actions of the people in power and the minorities of people who want to cause chaos, panic and disorder in these places. These people shouldn’t be forced to uproot and move because of bullies and people who shouldn’t be in power because they’re not considering what’s best for all their fellow countrymen.

…and in the meantime, as the other poster pointed out, the U.S. should also take the lead.

And, the we Americans should remember to show as much compassion towards immigrants pressing our borders as for those across the pond.

You obviously didn’t know that Minnesota alone houses 30,000 Somali refugees. And has a population 60,000 Hmong, who started out as refugees. Of course the Hmong seems to have integrated better into society than the Somali, but they have been here longer. And in regards to being called a racist- sometimes the best defense is a good offense right?

So true! The refugies living in Portugal even manage to escape detention when arrested for commiting crimes by acusing the one who called the cops of being racist. The political-correctness is become so obscene, that they become automaticly allowed to do anything just because their skin is darker and their parents came from Africa. It’s hypocrisy: if they want europeian democracy, then they get it by the same means everyone else, instead of managing to sneak into Europe, and then demanding to be treated like europeians aren’t.

30,000 is a drop in the bucket compared to the 30 million immigrants in Europe today.
 
Ireland should also help out. Of course, the USA being a larger country and being the country that invaded Iraq, causing the present chaotic situation, should take most of the refugees.

These refugees are from Syria. The U.S. never set a foot into Syria, and Assad ruled Syria the whole time Americans were in Iraq. This is just nonsense. Assad and his Iranian and Russian supporters are the cause of this one. But I will certainly grant that Obama’s abandonment of Iraq has given ISIS more territory to take over.

It was not Obama who initiated the troop withdrawal from Iraq. In 2008 George W. Bush signed the U.S.–Iraq Status of Forces Agreement which gave a deadline of 31 December 2011, before which “all the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory”.

Not at all. The U.S. had no involvement in Syria until ISIS took over much of it, and after we had left Iraq.

ISIS is just an outgrowth of Al Quaeda, which is an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood, which has been a serious contender for power in the region since the 1920s. Even Nasser battled the Muslim Brotherhood. So did Sadat until they killed him.

Islamic radicalism is an indigenous creation, and the U.S. is in no way responsible for its parent organization or its metastases.

The agreement was up for renewal. The U.S. generals recommended that 25-27,000 troops remain in order to guarantee the peace and further train Iraqi forces. Obama would not agree to that. Maliki believed he could get the Iraqi parliament to go along with 10,000, even though everybody knew that was probably not sufficient. Obama dropped it to an offer of 3,000, knowing Maliki could never get that approved because it was utterly inadequate. (Remember, we have 3,500 there now and its inadequacy is obvious). So, the agreement was not renewed.

Obama admitted in his debate with Romney that he didn’t want U.S. troops to remain no matter what the number might be; that he just wanted the U.S. out of Iraq.

Maliki turned to Iran for help. Sunni allegiance to the Baghdad government collapsed, and the rest is utterly predictable history.

George Bush went against their recommendation because in 2008 he signed the U.S.–Iraq Status of Forces Agreement which gave a deadline of 31 December 2011, before which “all the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory”.
