I’m sure it’s a great book in general for those who need tips on how to dress. I have not read it but I did remember trying to find the book and hence read many reviews and summaries about it.

No harm in reading it but I would say to not treat the book as gospel. I don’t remember if it’s this book, but i remember vaguely of some mentions on research studies on immodesty. The person posted inaccurate information to kind of sell her point about pants or something:confused: So I would just say to fact check as you go along, as you should with other books!

There are some guidelines that we are not required to follow, but if it doesn’t bother you, it’s a good book in general for ladies wanting help with modesty.

She has some good ideas, but my husband did not agree with what she said about slacks on women, so I continued to wear slacks 😉

I didn’t read the book but visit the website.
It’s very good.

People mistake dressing modestly with being drab or wearing sacks… it is not so. This person gives advice according to body shape, and how to avoid things like bra strap outlines in the back of your shirts etc. You know…dignity dressing with modesty and not looking like a slob.

Even if you don’t agree with everything she writes, she gives good advice and backs it up.

I read this book in high school, and it screwed me up big-time for a while. Her bit about pants causing men to visualize your genitals made me feel like I was committing a sin every time I went to my fire department in jeans. Skirts with slits were also out.

It wasn’t about combining modesty with style. She was essentially saying, “if you don’t dress by my metrics, you’re committing a sin.” I was afraid to wear anything but long skirts for several months.

Her definition of modesty (as far as I’m concerned, though others may have different thoughts) is very narrow, and not at all practical. Her bit about the Masons trying to take down the Church by encouraging young people to wear shorter sleeves is really quite bizarre.

Great book to read and I highly recommend it. She also has a Facebook group with the same name that is very active.
