AHA, The purpose of satire! And actually Lily, toward the Eucharist also. And perhaps not so much dismissive as unthinking and unfeeling. I haven’t been on for a few days so I took time to read through the comments.Me too - not because I don’t appreciate good satire, but be aids it is scarifyingly close to the real lack of comprehension and dismissive attitude that some have towards Mass.
I recognize that we are all on a journey, that Holy Mass and the Eucharist mean different things at different times in our lives, and that our reverence actually increases over time (one hopes). People leaving Mass early is disturbing to the whole community. Certainly there are times when we all need to do so, but the stampede in some communities is pretty dreadful. This behavior is “catching”. It somehow gives permission for others to do the same.
So, taking this to the ridiculous is a way to point out this trend and allow some reflection.
I did vote in the poll, and voted that no one in our community would use a drive-thru for Communion. At least I hope not.
