Stephen, I am so pleased! Your parents sound like wonderful people. They must love you very much. They show wisdom and fairness that musy have had your heart singing!
May all God’s kindest blessings be with them.

How brave of you to be prepared to take such a big step, and also to seek courage to follow through, and you were so considerate in how you approached them, and wise in doing so surrounded by prayer.

I think the Catholic Church will be very blessed to have you.

I know how difficult it is when considering dropping a bomb like that on one’s family. . . I did it myself over ten years ago with much the same familial reaction. My brother converted a year later when he married his Catholic sweetheart in the Church (at her mother’s insistance) My mother converted 5 years ago after careful study and prayer; my dad (of blessed memory) converted 3 years later, about a year before he died. It was a great comfort to her (and me) that he passed in the bosom of the Church. Thanks be to God!

Merciful Father of love, You alone have called Stephen closer to You. Father, look with great compassion upon his heart, which loves you more than his own family. See the heart which lives for the fulness of truth, and which seeks to commune more perfectly with Christ at all costs. Send Your Holy Spirit upon him to teach him the words to say to his mother and father. Lord in Heaven, this is a perfect reflection of Christ’s mission, which He said would cause dissension within families. Ease the shock with inspired words of comfort, and purify Stephen’s heart so that he may willingly accept Your guidance in all things. Teach him to obediently listen to the loving servant You have graciously given us in our Holy Father, Benedict XVI. There is celebration in Heaven and on earth as another blessed soul follows Christ into the church He founded for our sake. Grant this, O loving Father, in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Who, together with the Holy Spirit and You, O God and Father of all, are One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
