Thing is I did take the time to research what catholics believe, I even met with a priest. A religion that keeps you in bondage when Jesus came to set us free is NOT for me! Praise the Lord I am a slave for Christ and not a church. I’m done arguing, because obvioulsy it does no good. All I know is that my husband escaped the catholic bondage and thank the Lord Jesus for that. He ran for his life! See, there is life outside the Catholic church. A better one for that matter. You can not put your faith and trust in a mere church with mere men. We are to put all our faith in the ONE and only Jesus Christ. Not Mary, Saints, the Pope, the Priest ect…

Kathy, my prayers are with you and your family as you continue your journey towards the Lord. Your story makes me realize how precious my faith is and how the Church has always been there to nourish me and encourage my growth. Thank you for being a sign of God’s grace for me.

Let my start by saying that I don’t feel that I was arguing with you. We’re all human and we all won’t agree on everything.
For ME, it’s not about putting my faith/trust in men. My faith lies in God. God lead me to the Catholic church. You say you did your research, then you would know that’s where your faith lies. God is still in charge. And not one person here said they were confused!
For someone that wasn’t even going to church (myself), why not just be happy another soul is coming to Christ???

Thank you so much. I haven’t even been to my first mass yet and already the Church is being supportive and very encouraging. They are willing to help in whatever way they can and that makes me feel so good. I don’t start RCIA until October, so that says a lot. I thank God for allowing me to be a vessel for Him to help others.

Welcome SCPeach! That is an awesome story! I can’t give you any advice, I think that you would probably benefit more from other converts like your brother. Although I can totally identify as a sinner whose walked away from God and how He seems to get to us anyway He can and at our own level of understanding. He’s pretty amazing & awesome. Enjoy your journey, that is amazing too!

Although you may not be able to offer advice, please keep my family in your prayers. The devil is truly at work. I don’t think my husband will be attending my first mass tomorrow. I was hoping that we would go as a family:(

I will Kathy! I understand exactly what you are going through…my kids (who are grown, but live w/me) won’t come to Mass w/me either. But I keep on inviting them anyway.

Sorry Kathy–I didn’t mean my last message for you, I just didn’t want to use “quote” because that would have been to to many other people so I did it generalized. Every Catholic is confused in my opinion. They don’t know who to turn too. God? Mary? St. Peter? St. Christopher? They have so many “options” for certain things its rather confusing! No? Salvation is simple yet Catholics make it so hard. The Bible says all you have to do is plant the seed of truth. Jesus doesn’t want any of his children in bondage. He came to set his people free. Praise the Lord for that!!! My prayer for you is that the scales will fall off of your eyes and the REAL truth will be shown to you. Its up to you and every other catholic out there what they do with the real truth, if you squash the spirit of God or not.
I would be more than joyful for you if the Jesus you came to know and trust was the Jesus from the Bible. The catholic Jesus is totally different than the REAL JESUS! Jesus paid it all!

It is because you don’t understand these things. If you would learn about each and every thing you are talking about, you will see that we are not in confusion at all. We are using everything at our disposal to bring us closer to God. Catholocism is not bondage. Christ gave us the rules to live by, not the Catholic Church. There is not much wiggle room. The path is narrow. The changes that man has made to over 1500 years of Church teachings BEFORE leaving to found their own, have been to make “living within the rules” easier. You can follow those given authority by Christ to shephard and lead His flock, or you can follow man who will lead you away from Christ’s Deposit of Faith by teaching his own ideology.

Congratulations and welcome to the church that Jesus Christ founded. I wish you all the best in your journey. I was raised Catholic but was away from the church for 18 Years before returning two years ago. I went to Mass for the first time in years after Easter. I felt God calling me home like the Prodigal Son. I became so emotional during that mass that I broke down in tears of joy. I have gone weekly ever since.

Anyway, my point is that I understand how you have been called to the church. I spent many years wandering and am glad to be home.

Come on now, tell us what you know is the truth, rather than just your opinions.

Catholics know who to turn to: the Most Holy Trinity. And they also know that they can ask others who have turned to the Trinity for salvation to pray for them and give them assistance. First and foremost is the Mother of our Divine Lord and Savior, the Blessed Virgin Mary. We also know we have angels who are ever before our Almighty Father. We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, the saints in Heaven who have won the crown of victory. Catholics know it’s not just “me and Jesus”.

Catholics work out their salvation in fear and trembling. We know we must live worthy lives of our calling, lest it we lose it and suffer eternal punishment in Hell.

If Jesus paid it all, then why do we need to pick up our cross and follow him? Why do we have to suffer? Why do we need to fill up what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ for his body, the Church? Catholics know that we must participate in Jesus’ earthly life (as he participated in ours by being Incarnate) if we desire to partake of Jesus’ heavenly life.

Perhaps you should start another thread to try and prove your claim that “the catholic Jesus” is not the “real Jesus”. This is not the proper thread for your claims.

Born Again, I know you addressed your post to Kathy, but I felt the need to thank you. No, I haven’t been “converted” to your point of view about Catholics or Catholicism. I don’t believe Catholics are confused about salvation or about who it is who offers salvation. I will die a faithful Catholic through the grace of God. Still, I think you are sincere in your prayer for me and my fellow Catholics to know Jesus. I believe your love for the Lord compels you to call out to others to seek him as well, and this, I believe, is a grace from God. So, I thank you for your prayer and I ask that you will continue to pray that I draw closer and closer to our Lord. I will also pray that the Lord is always with you.
