I discuss and communicate things that I believe, how that can be “deception”? I’m out front with my comments if you disagree, that’s fine, show us what you believe on the matter and why. I’m far more interested in learning what have to say on the issues and less interested in responding to pithy negative comments as above.

Fact: truly monotheistic belief systems, such as Islam and Judaism, worship One God. it doesn’t matter whether that belief is ‘true’ or not. Christians worship three-in-one—or simply Three in one Godhead, One in purpose.
Modalists worship One God with three faces. They are the closest to being monotheist.
they are wrong, but they are the closest to being monotheist.
I find it ironic indeed that you are so sure that Mormons are not Christians because you believe you have the right to decide that…
but in a situation that is very similar, you have decided to force yourself onto truly monotheistic societies when your worship is so plainly NOT monotheistic.
…and no, neither is ours, though we come a wee bit closer, given that we are henotheistic.
I love the irony here…but I said that already.

This Mormon reasoning reminds me of a conversation I had over the phone with a girl once:
Me: I’m tall
Girl: How tall are you?
Me: 6’3”
Girl: That’s not tall
Me: what?
Girl: My brother is 6’5”
Somehow, her brother being taller made me below average height.
Catholic: You believe three persons are God so you are polytheistic
Mormon: So are you……
Catholic: What?
Mormon: Jews would think you are polytheistic
Somehow, what Jews think of the Christian understand of God has some bearing on Mormons being polytheistic; or has any bearing on Christians being polytheistic.
Of course this assumes all Jews understand the Christian understanding of God and are uniform in their interpretation of that understanding.
I’m beginning to think that girl I talked to on the phone was a Mormon.

Your response was much more succinct than mine. 19th century upstart religions seem to have a thing about wanting to be Jewish, something must have been in the water back then. Do Mormon’s send out Christmas cards?

I hope you are able to recover…from your relativism. I find no humor in relativism, it is in my experience, part of the trinity of atheism. The other two being secularism and materialism.
There is one Truth, as God has Revealed it. This Truth is not dependent upon cultures, or comparative religious study. It is not one Truth for you and one Truth for me and one Truth for Islam and one Truth for Jews. This is called: relativism.

Relativism/irony…
In other words, you can decide what Christianity means because…well…you were here before we were and have decided that you can. You cannot possibly see why someone like me could possibly object to your definition; we should simply accept it and slink off humbly, suitably chastened.
However, when people who were monotheistic something like twice as long as you have been around (Catholicism…) look at you and say–you are not monotheistic, you object strenuously. Why should THEY have the right to decide that, anyway? Just because they’ve been around longer?
That truly is irony—and the relativism is very much a part of that. Not MY relativism–yours.
Remember, I’m not claiming to BE monotheist…certainly not in the sense that Jews are! That, m’friend, would be you.

Perhaps you didn’t realize that I don’t view Judaism the same as I view Mormonism. The difference? Jesus is the fulfillment of promises made in the OT, to those who eventually came to be what we call “Jewish”. The only difference, as I see it, between Catholicism and Judaism, is that Jews do not accept Jesus as the Christ. Which of course, includes rejecting the teachings of the Apostles (the NT).
Mormonsim on the other hand, is wholly something “other”.
Not relativism. REASON.
Yes, and it is true, all Christians believe in ONE GOD.
I’m sorry Diana, but it what Mormons SAY and BELIEVE that put you outside of Christianity. Not what I believe.
