Someone in Jordan told me they just celebrated Palm Sunday yesterday ( april 20), and that Easter is coming up. Could this be a Orthodox/Catholic or something else? I have never heard such a thing.
Due to the fact that this is a double leap month year in the Jewish calendar, we have just entered Pesach starting yesterday. So, if Easter is supposed to be in sync with Passover, and a reading of the Holy Thursday & Good Friday liturgies would indicate that, then it would seem that Easter should be coming up this week.
So when and how did the Jewish and Christian calendars get out of sync?
I would think it’s because of the use of a different calendar system for Judaism as opposed to Western Christianity. This would also explain why Eastern Orthodox Holy Week has a different time from the Catholic/Western Holy Week.
