I have been struggling with an eating disorder since I was 11 years old…I am now 22. There have been times when I have recovered, but I always fall back. I began to have another relapse in December and lived with it, getting worse and worse, until about a month ago when I decided to try and get rid of it, for good. I am ready to move on with my life and stop this. I want to be healthy. I want to be FREE! I am seriously discerning a call to the religious life and I know I cannot enter until I am completely recovered from all of this. I really want to get better, I just don’t know if I can! I feel so weak…

I am taking anti-depressants and seeing a psychiatrist. I attend Mass (daily when possible) and recieve the sacraments regularly. For the first time, I have willingly told my friends and family what is going on so that I can have support and accountability (in the past I have always tried my best to hide it and lie to people because I was forced into medical care at my very lowest weight and I resented and hated them because I didn’t see that they loved me and were trying to help me). They are amazing and loving, and very helpful.

Please pray that I can finally beat this. Please pray that I can be healthy and learn to stop abusing myself physically and emotionally. I can resist the disordered thinking when I allow the Holy Spirit to assist me, but the addiction sometimes prevents that. Please pray that I can always be open to His help, even when a part of me wants to give up.

Thank you so much. Your dedication and faith inspire me.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. amen

VanillaBean,

Don’t give up hope. The devil is constantly waging war on our souls. You must continue to fight and place your entire trust in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Only there will this tremendous cross give you grace when you willingly abandon yourself entirely in Christ’s will. I know He loves you so much!

You’ve already done such a courageous deed by revealing your disorder to your family and friends. You have asked for help. This is, indeed, a great sign that you are ready to commit to a healthy, balanced relationship with food and yourself. I can’t imagine how much strength that took! Keep on fighting, and if it helps, pray to St. Michael for freedom from the devil.

I’m praying for you, my dear sister in Christ. 🙂

Lord Jesus,You said,
“I have come to set the captives free.”
We are captive and need Your healing touch.
Free us, Lord, from our addictions,
so that we will be:
…free from the cares and worries that stifle our happiness;
…free from sins that cling to us, and to which we cling;
…free from all compulsive behavior
that prevents us from becoming what You, Lord,
have planned for us.
Bring us, loving Savior,
to the experience of abundant life
which You promised.

Amen.

Sorry to hear of your struggles. 😦 Lifting you up in prayers to Jesus! :gopray2:

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit Of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Hey VanillaBean,

I’m praying for you TONS. I suffer from ED as well, so I understand where you’re coming from. You are not alone!! If you can, view your dinner tonight as medicine that your body needs, and remember that the Lord is so proud of you for how far you’ve come, and is always with you to pick you up when you fall. Hang in there, you are a wonderful, wonderful person!!

Father, heal this child of yours from this disorder. We beg you to wrap your loving arms around them and hold them up as they fight the evil that tries to envelope them. We trust in you for all things Father! AMEN

I’ll pray for you at the weekend Masses. God bless you for your courage and intention, and I ask Him to embrace you and protect you in His great love for you.

I am praying for you.:gopray2:
That you feel the power and strength of the Lord surround you and sustain you.
That you not be discouraged by past relapses but always remember, as St. Francis of Sales used to say, that one has to be willing to start anew each day. I pray that you find the courage to face each mealtime, day by day, and each time, think only on what is immediately in front of you and ask for the grace to nourish the wonderful body God gave you.
I am praying that you feel embraced by Mary and find in her a loving Mother and Friend that prays for you at all times.
I pray that you persevere because with God’s grace everything is possible and you’ve come a long way!

Alma
