Whoever said Hinduism is equal to Catholicism???
You did as one of your objections to ecumenism (or at least what you have personally defined ecumenism as, contrary to the mind of the Church):
How can the Hindus and the Holy Rollers have a true religion together with the Catholic faith?

Ok, where do you say I compared Hinduism to Catholicism…says here the two do not go together… along with the holy rollers…🤷

Don’t confuse false ecumenism with the Church’s Mission and evangelization.

Mission is a requirement of the Church’s catholicity.

“God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Tim 2:4

“Because the Church believes in God’s universal plan of salvation, the Church must be missionary.” CCC 851

If it is true that “outside the Church there is no salvation” CCC 846. Then the Catholic Church needs to be reaching out with all her might to our separated protestant brethren.

CCC 822 "Concern for achieving unity "involves the whole Church, faithful and clergy alike. But we must realize “that this holy objective–the reconciliation of all Christians in the unity of the one and only Church of Christ – transcends human powers and gifts.” That is why we place all our hope “in the prayer of Christ for the Church, in the love of the Father for us, and in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
CCC quotes are from unitatis redintegratio
I am commanded by God not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, false Eccumentalism is just that.

I’m sorry if I misunderstood–I thought you were saying ecumenism is wrong because it makes hinduism equal to Catholicism. My point was that that misrepresents ecumenism. Sorry for the confusion.

What is a quasi-traditional Catholic?
A person who loves the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, yet is not so arrogant to think the the OF doe not have value. A person who values traditions, but not at the expense of obfuscating the truth, confusing people, or intimidating people causing them to leave the faith.

And you are saying that plain old Catholics do this? No other denomination does this???

I neither said nor implied either of your assertions. I am merely trying to give people a better idea of what I favor, that is make it clear that I am not a “cafeteria” Catholic. Rather , I humbly submit myself to teachings of the Church, even the ones I find difficult to understand. I will never separate myself from Holy Mother Church.

John Paul II acknowledges that ecumenism is a Protestant invention. It is this Protestant thing that has invaded the church. Protestanism is a heresy, and ecumenism is one of the heresies of Protestanism.
The ecclesiology of Protestanism is the ecclesiology of ecumenism. The ecclesiology of ecumenism is the ecclesiology of Cardinal Ratzinger; it is the ecclesiology of Hans King and all the Modernists. The man in charge of ecumenism in the church today, Cardinal Walter Kasper, is an ecumenist; his ecclessiology is Protestant.
In an Anglican church, in a pamphlet, I examined a presentation of the doctrine of Anglicanism, where it clearly states that we are not of different religions, we all form one Christian church. We are different denominations of the one Christian church, whether we call ourselves Roman, Catholic, Orthodox, Evangelical, Anglican or holy rollers for that matter. Whichever, these are all different denominations of the one Christian church.
They all profess their faith in Jesus Christ, all form one universal church.
This is ecumenism.
This is the ecclesiology of ecumenism. This is the heresy of ecumenism, which is diametrically opposed to the actual original teaching and tradition of the Catholic church, which the Lord bestowed, the Apostles proclaimed, and the Fathers safeguarded, as St. Athanasius explained.
The Catholic teaching about the Roman Catholic church isthat Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, founded the One holy Catholic and Apostolic church which will last until the end of time.
All other religions are false, not pleasing to god and unless a person leaves the false churches and joins the Roman Catholic church, and perserveres in the Catholic church until his death, he cannot save his soul. “Outside the church there is no salvation” has been solemnly defined three times by the Catholic popes.
There is only one God, and He revealed only one Divine Truth. There’s only one Divine Revelation, and it is found in the one church that He founded.
How can the Hindus and the Holy Rollers have a true religion together with the Catholic faith? And every different church and every different religion has conflicting doctrines. They teach different things, that are opposed and contradictory, as black is opposed to white. How can anyone say “Well in essence, they are all the same”?
My sense is that Righteousone cannot or will not distinguish between false ecumenicism–aka ‘indifferentism’–and true ecumenicism, which seeks dialogue in hopes of promoting unity without sacrificing truth.

I think we must be careful not to paint people with too broad of a brush.

However, RighteousOne’s posts do seem to avoid the distinction.

Did you say what you favor?? you cannot pick and choose what you want to believe in…sounds like a cafeteria Catholic to me.

Correct. True ecumenism is an attempt to reunite all Christians into one as Christ prayed we would be on the night before He died,

**"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one. I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and **that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."
John 17:20-23

What greater testimony can we give the world than for true believers, Catholic and protestant to be reunited.

Im addressing this issue from a NonCatholic perspective.
Orthodox Non-Catholics and Orthodox Catholics believe that true believers are on both sides. (whether you do or not, doesn’t matter)

Did you say what you favor?? you cannot pick and choose what you want to believe in…sounds like a cafeteria Catholic to me.
You know, you are way out of line here. You grab one word, twist to mean what you want and not what I obviously intended and ignore everything else in my post. You slander me when you do this.

While I will not charactize this behavior, I can tell you what it is not; truthful, humble, well intentioned, charitable.

I will not return an insult with an insult.

Can you provide a reference for this in context?

“A text without a context is a pretext.”
The ecclesiology of Protestanism is the ecclesiology of ecumenism.
I believe the fractured nature of protestantism is anything BUT ecumenism and a desire to be One.
The ecclesiology of ecumenism is the ecclesiology of Cardinal Ratzinger;
Did I really read that right?

Rightousone,
If Ecumenism is Protestant heresy, did Pope John Paul II commit heresy when he approved the following document which appears on the Vatican website?

vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/documents/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_31101999_cath-luth-joint-declaration_en.html
Reread my posts…🤷
I have carefully re-read your posts and I am uncertain as to how you would answer this question. I believe this is a valid and important question. Can you please answer it directly?

I looked at your website, do not have time to read it right now…
Christians have much in common, but the divisions that still persist wound the body of the church.
Seperation contradicts God’s will and constitutes a serious obstacle to evangelization.
“The lack of unity among Christians wounds the church, not by depriving her of unity. but by impeding the full realization of her universality in history”.----John Paul II
