Ecumenism is a Protestant Heresy

John Paul II acknowledges that ecumenism is a Protestant invention. It is this Protestant thing that has invaded the church. Protestanism is a heresy, and ecumenism is one of the heresies of Protestanism.
The ecclesiology of Protestanism is the ecclesiology of ecumenism. The ecclesiology of ecumenism is the ecclesiology of Cardinal Ratzinger; it is the ecclesiology of Hans King and all the Modernists. The man in charge of ecumenism in the church today, Cardinal Walter Kasper, is an ecumenist; his ecclessiology is Protestant.
In an Anglican church, in a pamphlet, I examined a presentation of the doctrine of Anglicanism, where it clearly states that we are not of different religions, we all form one Christian church. We are different denominations of the one Christian church, whether we call ourselves Roman, Catholic, Orthodox, Evangelical, Anglican or holy rollers for that matter. Whichever, these are all different denominations of the one Christian church.
They all profess their faith in Jesus Christ, all form one universal church.
This is ecumenism.
This is the ecclesiology of ecumenism. This is the heresy of ecumenism, which is diametrically opposed to the actual original teaching and tradition of the Catholic church, which the Lord bestowed, the Apostles proclaimed, and the Fathers safeguarded, as St. Athanasius explained.
The Catholic teaching about the Roman Catholic church isthat Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, founded the One holy Catholic and Apostolic church which will last until the end of time.
All other religions are false, not pleasing to god and unless a person leaves the false churches and joins the Roman Catholic church, and perserveres in the Catholic church until his death, he cannot save his soul. “Outside the church there is no salvation” has been solemnly defined three times by the Catholic popes.
There is only one God, and He revealed only one Divine Truth. There’s only one Divine Revelation, and it is found in the one church that He founded.
How can the Hindus and the Holy Rollers have a true religion together with the Catholic faith? And every different church and every different religion has conflicting doctrines. They teach different things, that are opposed and contradictory, as black is opposed to white. How can anyone say “Well in essence, they are all the same”?
Are you a Sedevacantist ??? that would explain a lot of things …:newidea:

Rightousone,
If Ecumenism is Protestant heresy, did Pope John Paul II commit heresy when he approved the following document which appears on the Vatican website?

vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/documents/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_31101999_cath-luth-joint-declaration_en.html
I just wanted to point out that that document needs to be read with this one:

vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/documents/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_01081998_off-answer-catholic_en.html

It describes the remaining problems with the Joint Dec.

I just want to jump in and say something.
When Jesus came and died for our sins who did not just save Christians. When Jesus was on Earth, there were no Christians. His followers decided to call themselves Christians and eventually set up a church system which became the Catholic Church. The Protestant Reformation occurred at a time when the Church was basically selling tickets to heaven. Martin Luther did not think that was right (which it was not right) and so he wanted change. So, before you all get into an argument about whether protestants are non-believers and all of that stop and think. We were not put on this earth to judge other people and to decide you gets to go to heaven. We, as Christians, should not look at other Christians and say we’re better because we’re a part of the better church. How is that being Christian? Being a Catholic Christian is a little more than just a title, it should be an action. If we all acted like Christians then we wouldn’t be separating ourselves more and more from other faiths. We can learn from everyone…whether they are protestant or hindu. We aren’t the judge and we can’t say who really believes and who doesn’t. All churches are run by people and people make mistakes. Every church does things wrong (including the Catholic Church).

The pope never commits heresy…that’s all I have to say.
I will accept that answer, and thereby, accept that you believe that this effort, whether you want to call it Ecumenism or not, is valid discussion between us.

Genesis 315,
I have read the Response as well. It lets us know that we still have much work to do. I hope the work continues, with the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The post is self contradictory. You obviously believe in the infallibility of the pope if you are a traditional Catholic as it seems but you call the curent pope and the last pope heretics.

Second, you couldn’t have read too much of Pope Benedict/Cardinal Ratzinger’s writings to come to the conclusion that he believes that all churches are part of the Church and that hinduism is equivalent to Catholicism. I suggest you read Dominus Jesus. I suggest you read the letter that was released last July that specifically says the Catholic Church is the one Church founded by Christ. I suggest you read his books as well.* Called To Communion* is a good one to start with.

I suppose this post is for me… No one has ever said Hinduism is equivalent to Catholicism. I already know that the Catholic church IS the one true church of Christ…where are you going with this?🤷

You are arguing something that is contradictory to the theology of Pope Benedict and then pinning it on him. You are saying that he doesn’t believe that the Catholic Church is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. You obviously have not read what he has said. Read the things I mentioned and you will see his view of the Church.

I absolutely NEVER would say this. DO NOT insult me or my Catholic faith. You obviously do not understand these posts here. I do not need to read anything about my Catholic church as I am very learned in it…are you? Pope Benedict isn’t even mentioned here. Pope John Paul is…are you alright?:whacky:

Actually since you mentioned Cardinal Ratzinger, by default you also mentioned Pope Benedict since they are the same person.

Since Ratzinger is Pope Benedict it is safe to say you mentioned pope Benedict.

“The lack of unity among Christians wounds the church, not by depriving her of unity. but by impeding the full realization of her universality in history”. - John Paul II
Sir, it is polite, when quoting someone, to give the source of the quotation, if only so that it can be verified.

What you have quoted, as best I can determine, is from this article. It is not a direct quote of Pope John Paul II as you claim, but an excerpt from Dominus Iesus, n. 18. That document, while receiving the approval of Pope John Paul II, was not written by him; it was the product of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, with Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger as Prefect, and Archbishop Emeritus of Vercelli, Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., as Secretary.

Here is the quote in the English translation found on the Vatican’s web site:The lack of unity among Christians is certainly a wound for the Church; not in the sense that she is deprived of her unity, but “in that it hinders the complete fulfilment of her universality in history”. {Communionis notio, 17; cf. Second Vatican Council, Decree Unitatis redintegratio, 4.}

What I understand to mean is this: the lack of unity among Christians does not change the fact that the Church itself retains its unity (it is One), but it is a wound insofar as not all who profess belief in Christ belong to the Church, which means that She is not universal in the sense the Lord intended: people who believe in Jesus Christ are still not in the Church, thus the Church is not universal as it should be. Not that the Church does not still retain unity (and always will), but just that She is not the only “organization” (if you will) out there wherein Christians are found.

OH MIGHT! protestants are not just non believers they are infidels too.

:knight1: :knight2: :signofcross:

.

i praise the desire of the catholic church for unity of all people that they all come aboard. but in reality this is almost impossible. Jesus Himself said: narrow is the gate and few would enter through it. lets not ignore this. Noah for a hundred year envited and warned people to come into the ark, but they refused. so, i AM NOT surprised, it is going to be like the times of Noah.

LORD HAVE MERCY. LORD HAVE MERCY. LORD HAVE MERCY.

ummm…the author of the post you decry is …ahem…cough…
a Catholic:eek:
A protestant did not make the comment. If fern88 is truthful in his/her profile…religion catholic. I have no reason to doubt the honesty of said profile.
