It seems that celibacy would be as hard or harder for an effeminate priest as a straight priest… think of who the effeminate priest will be living around all the time. Just a thought.
And exactly where do you “get around”, to have first-hand knowledge that would back up such an inflammatory statement? What would be a safer haven for male-to-male relationships than an all-male sports team? You know, the showering together, all of that, just like those naughty Greeks and Romans, and we all know what kind of sex lives they had…Wow lak611, guess you don’t get around much. Many priests are gay. It’s a safe haven for them since their male to male relationships are less likely to be challenged.
Also where can they wear such flamboyant colorful outfits?
It’s a natural for them.
You are lucky. While my current pastor and other priests I come in contact with are all quite clearly masculine in their appearance and how they act, that has not always been the case. And it was disheartening if not repulsive at times. My pastor is definitely very masculine. He loves sports (especially Notre Dame football, where he went to college), loves playing poker, and drives a convertible. He is just like every other guy, except he is single and chaste. My previous pastor was also very masculine, loved football and golf. I really have never known any priests who were not “men’s men”.
Actually the first set of such men would likely be dissuaded (perhaps violently so) from becoming fire fighters. If most firemen sashayed, adopted a lisp without a speech impediment causing it, and spoke in high pitched tones and acted like a 16 year old girl, there would alot less fire fighters. That is the only point here. No little boys want to grow up to be a cop if they watch CHiPs as a kid and Ponch and John were played by Andy **** and Nathan Lane. This really is just a matter of appropriate role modeling if you give it some honest thought.
