It’s all part of a concerted effort that’s been ongoing for some time to try to destroy the Catholic Church. The Marxists, Masons, and Modernists have been trying to destroy the Church for over a hundred years now. They will fail, but they can also do great damage to many souls, which is Satan’s goal. Satan is the master terrorist. His goal is lies and murder, which is nothing new. Jesus says he was a liar and a murderer from the beginning. He uses the weak and ignorant to do his work.
👍 Thanks for going to the root of the war. Satan. Simplifies things, makes them more clear.

Once done the complicated chess game of ethics, morality, politics, grey areas and tough calls becomes … checkers. :newidea:

Romans 16:17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who create dissensions and obstacles,*** in opposition to the teaching that you learned;*** avoid them.

18 For such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

19 For while your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, I want you to ***be wise as to what is good, and simple as to what is evil; :getholy:

20 then the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet.*** :knight2::knight1: The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

In Australia 33% of elementary and 42% of high school students attend non government schools and this is continuing to climb at each census. The great majority of these are Catholic schools (21% and 23%) followed by other Christian schools. These are largely funded by the state at a lower cost then state students.

In the past the state system decided to be non religious because this was deemed to be neutral. In the following decades though this approach of presenting to students a world and lifestyle without God has created a large secular community.

It has now got to the stage where the government’s policy of non religious education can no longer be seen as neutral but supporting a particular community which puts the government in a difficult position.

State schools do allow an hour of religious instruction per week for those that choose it and they also have a chaplaincy program where pastors can be funded by the state in state schools to help students with personal issues. In a recent court case the High Court here judged that this was perfectly legal because while the Pastors / Priests etc are funded by the state they are not employees.

I think the balance in Australia is just about right.

It seems the American government’s educational system is anti-religion, viewed solely from an Australian perspective. From an Australian perspective the government is supposed to reflect who the people are and also reflect what they want.

For our non-Canadian friends it should be noted that most of the Catholic Schools (at least in Ontario) are Catholic in name only. There are some notable exceptions, but I do not believe that much will be lost in terms of faith and catechesis.

In reply to the controversy about funding Catholic schools. Many non Catholics try to get their children enrolled in the Catholic school system because every survey or study that has been done shows they out perform the non Catholic schools in almost every subject. This fact has has prompted over and over again a kind of professional envy among educators who even in Ontario have come up with the idea “if you can’t beat, them shut them down” under the guise of "unity’ ,Catholic schools also admit ,if they have space children from all other religions ,who desire a faith based education. And don’t forget Catholics are also taxpayers .the Catholic Schools were the only schools in frontier Canada and the constitution was adapted so non Catholics could be included.in the the system without having to be a Catholic i. We don’t
'have to have the same constitution as you .Our country has a different history ,here in Ontario any politician who raised the specter of dumping Catholic schools was committing political suicide REF John Tory. This year there was a group of administrators who want to ban the reporting of school performances in local newspapers because the Catholic schools always came out ahead and it made the non Catholics educators look bad.So ban the Catholics and we can all look forward to mediocrity in our public schools
Well, private schools should outperform public schools. Otherrwise, why should parents of non-catholic students spend the money?

They don’t have to spend money, the schools are funded by the Province. The Catholic schools are not “private”, they are simply another option.

Thanks for clearing this up; I was thinking about the US.
