Either Catholicism is true, OR... Aliens

I don’t think that extra-terrestrials disprove God or Catholicism as such. I think it’s perfectly legitimate to think God has created other intelligent beings in our extremely vast Universe. Sure, there would be theological questions: Are these beings fallen? etc. But in itself, I’m not sure if there’s a contradiction.

MY CONCERN is, if there are advanced intelligent aliens out there, they could be more than capable of manipulating us, even messing with religion. Maybe they are behind apparitions and miracles, etc.

In that case, maybe they CREATED entire religions in the first place.

Some of you may scoff at this, but growing up, UFOs and stories of alien abductions and so on have always scared me (fascinated me)? Even I think I saw a UFO once.

Any ideas?

Ancient aliens bs is bs, oftentimes they manipulate evidence or whatnot. There’s even a whole 3 hour film you can watch on it for free
 
There’s no evidence of aliens. I’ve studied the subject for a while.

If we are the only other life in the Universe they know of, and they can in fact reach us, why wouldn’t they want to study us?

Besides, considering there would be several, even millions, even billions of ET beings – just like there are billions of humans – I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to find a few aliens who ARE interested in us, just as humans have different interests.
 
Yes, but you can study another culture without lying to them or messing with them.
 
Pope John Paul II said that if aliens existed they are God’s creatures too and they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
How do you know they hate Christianity? You met them? UFO does not equal aliens.
Anyhow… we will ask them the Creed. If they say it…then what? 😎
 
God works in mysterious ways and before aliens come here no doubt He will first introduce them to the Church.
Just an idea… what if these aliens are some sort of strict rad trads who scowl not at our small technologies but rather at our immorality? Even if they are not angels.
What then? We fight them either way? We use our maybe more advanced technology against them? Wipe them out because they are judgemental? Hm…

I feel like thread is already becoming off topic. I don’t want to debate existence of aliens. I’m just asking about the concern of how to deal with idea that advanced aliens, if they DO exist, may be behind our religion in the first place.
 
My personal opinion on that scenario, is that it would be even more unlikely than if it were just a question of whether they exist at all.

It would be the undisputed mother of all conspiracy theories of all time. Logic dictates that given the trillions or more planets out there there might be some form of life, and in my mind it would take the form of microbes or animals. To say that not only does intelligent life exist out there, but they were somehow behind the creation of any religion here on this rock, well the odds are so bad, that they might as well not exist.

Just as a footnote, If I were intelligent, and from another planet, I would most likely steer clear of Earth. Given our struggles against evil, coming here at THIS time would be like stepping on an ant hill in the cow pasture of the universe.

OP, this sounds more harsh than I intend, really it does, but keeping in the confines of the thread, I don’t know of a softer way of putting it without dragging it out for pages.

Well, if aliens exist I don’t see why they would be more advanced than us tbh. Life started and happened pretty quickly when it was able.

Highly unlikely. Why would they? If they can travel across lightyears, they have better things to do. Think of all the science!!!

Alien abductions are stopped by invoking the name of Jesus.

The aliens of our time match the demons and fallen angels mentioned in the Bible in terms of their behavior.
 
I don’t believe aliens could create a false salvation history. False community of Saints. False mytical experiences of countless people age past to now. False Jesus False Resurrection. I mean why ? That’s a lot of work

even if they did exist, what would make you think they were behind our religion?

for the record. I don’t believe aliens exist. (notice how very few UFO sightings there have been now that everyone has a camera in their cell phone?)
