I loved Gone With the Wind - both the book and movie.

I remember reading the book when I was about 16 years old.I loved it.Saw the movie so e time later,it was good,however,as usually is the case.I liked the book a lot more!

Robert Redford is 78. I just read in wiki he was in The Twilight Zone. What episode? I met him many moons ago and drank some Miller beer with him. I was impressed by how thin he was and his long legs.

I went to see Jerry Lewis live once. I had a nice image of him of a funny man and all. But, I was really taken a back by his vulgarity in live shows. Plain vulgarity that wasn’t really that funny. I was disappointed. I think he had the reputation and the ability to do great funny shows without having to recourse to vulgarity.

I agree with what you say about vulgarity; it shows a lack of creativity. Most people are unaware that each ticket sold is a vote for more of the same, just like any other product sold. Something to keep in mind for next time.

I used to work in a movie theater when going to college. We had a policy that if a patron asked for a refund, and the picture was not more than 20 past the start point, we could give him a refund. This was not something we advertised. I don’t know if live stage performances have a similar policy, but it doesn’t hurt to keep this in mind also and ask next time it happens, live or film. I liked the book better also, but I love reading. you can use your imagination with the characters, etc.
But the movie was still good!

If you put his name into the search engine for imdb.com, a page will come up with all the films and performances he’s been in.

Speaking of old appearances, there was a B&W version of Little Shop of Horrors made in 1960. It was on the level of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. There was a scene with Jack Nicholson who played the part of a masochist who goes to the dentist just to have his teeth smashed up for the pleasure.

Sofia Loren is still alive. I read some time ago, a young man tried to rob her and she sent him to the hospital. Watch out!

I always noticed the different personna he had on the telethons also. it was like he had to act tough to counter the zany, childlike character he played in so many movies. it seemed like a split personality almost.
of course, he never used vulgarity on the telethons and I never saw him in person, but it would have bothered me too.

You must be a guy. You have to realize it was a “gal” movie. “Guy” movies usually have a love story as a subplot to keep the gals interested. GWTW is a “gal” movie with the Civil War for a “guy” subplot to keep their interest.

I am a female. I guess it just wasn’t for me.

I was once invited to a luncheon Mr. Turner was giving. I told my friends that I pass as I really had no interest in meeting him nor of having lunch with the bunch served him. I’ve seen lots of movies that were not for me. I must be the only one on the planet who can’t stand Citizen Kane. I kid you not, I’ve tried watching it several times and never was able to get past 20 minutes before I started asking myself, “Where is he going with this?” and coming up 0 [zero]. Another loser is Once Upon a Time in the West that had enormous potential cast-wise.

The TZ episode you’re referring to is called “Nothing in the Dark.” It’s about an elderly lady, played by Gladys Cooper, who’s afraid of dying. Robert Redford plays the comforting Mr. Death. It’s a beautifully done story, especially well performed by Gladys Cooper.

I have heard of the organization to help elderly motion picture employees. that is good they have that. you would think some of the wealthier dtars might contribute or do fundraisers.
