The New Catholic Study Bible (St. Jerome edition) renders 1John 2:18-19 as “…you were told that the Enemy of Christ would come; and now many enemies of Christ have already appeared, and so we know that the end is near. These people really did not belong to our fellowship, and that is why they left us; if they had belonged to our fellowship, they would have stayed with us. But they left so that it might be clear that none of them really belonged to us.” This sounds like apostates of John’s own time.

v.22: “Who, then, is the liar? It is anyone who says that Jesus is not the Messiah.” As far as I’m aware, Obama hasn’t done this.

I’m familiar with the concept of biblical typology, but application of the principle here is not terribly convincing, Mickey.

I’m not concerned whether you are convinced of anything or not. There were many apostates and heretics in St John’s time. Many of his writings are geared toward these heretics and gnostics. There were many Antichrists in St John’s time…and there are many in our time.

Is Obama one of them? I hope not.

But I’m surely not voting for him. At the very least, he is a socialist/marxist. 😉

I don’t really like getting faith involved in political decisions as to who to vote for. I don’t mind it being a part of law based discussions as it should be. But if you are going to say BHO doesn’t believe Jesus Christ is Lord then I’m not going to vote for him. Or if a Jewish person is on the ballot I’m not going to vote for him. We should vote on someone we truly believe will help this country, we shouldn’t vote for someone only on the reason that he or she is Catholic.
 
What matters is BHO destroying the religious freedom and persecuting the Catholic Church.
And on top of all that, he is destroying capitalism, creating class war, and leading our country to communism.:eek:

With all these horrors, do you still want to vote for him?

Indeed. I have seen what BHO has done to this country, and I am not impressed. He is also the most abortion loving president in history.

I would die before I would vote for him.
