This anti-catholic woman is incorrect in just about everything, but do we have the right to call her a ‘false Prophet’? Or is that simply uncharitable?
It is not uncharitable to call a false prophet a false prophet. Jesus told us to beware of them.

Matt 7:15-23
15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.
16 By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 So by their fruits you will know them.
21 "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’
23 Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’

Calling her a false prophet would be accurate and not at all uncharitable. Besides, look at what she calls us. 😉

Seriously, White has misled many by spreading lies about the Catholic Church. Her works, despite their mistakes and outright lies, are still held in high regard by Seventh Day Adventists. To tell the truth about he is to do a great favor for the deceived.

Just because she predicted something that turned out later to have occurred doesn’t mean it came from the Divine. It could have come from the devil. Recalling what I read in The Rite…one way an exorcist discerns possession by an evil spirit is the knowing of the unknown. And this was also shown in the movie version, if you watched it.

The exorcist asked a trainee to place an object in a bag. While conducting the exorcism, the exorcist asks what is in the bag…and the object is correctly named by the possessed.
Yes, but according to St. Anthony, the devils don’t know a future that hasn’t materialized. So, for example, a devil could hear someone 100 miles away saying that they were coming to visit you, then announce that fact somehow, and it would appear like a prophecy, even though the devil just related what he was able to perceive. But a devil cannot tell the distant future, because he doesn’t know it any more than we do.

Which is why, more often than not, Ellen White was catastrophically wrong…
…Her affirmation that certain Negro’s were actually resultant from male Great Apes breeding Negresses is one such example.
…And her personal “Star Trek” whereas she communicated with E.T.'s on a distant planet is another.
…Still, we have to give her credit for teaching against O.S.A.S. - she got that one right.

Her writings are generally considered by the SDA to be inspired, as she introduced many of their unique beliefs. She has a very interesting history, with a head injury leaving her in a coma for two weeks when she was young, then later work in her family’s hat-making business, where she was allegedly exposed (poisoned?) to mercury - commonly used in the nineteenth century hat-making industry. It was after this head injury and alleged mercury poisoning that she began receiving her “visions”.

And yes, the SDA officially teach that the Catholic Church is the “whore of Babylon” and that the Pope is the antichrist. They don’t trumpet it as much as in ages past, but the belief remains and all of the publications are still in their libraries.

As I recall, they believe that Jesus is actually Michael the archangel, apparently more of Gould’s teaching, based on a misinterpretation of 1 Thessalonians 4:15.

I got to know the SDA rather well, as the chaplain at work was SDA. He was “shocked” that a Catholic could fervently believe in and love our Lord. Yes, it’s that bad.

According to the official SDA website the texts of Ellen White have a “continuing authority” in matters of faith and morals…
…And the way in which this teaching is worded appears to ursurp the normal Prot belief.

SDA Fundamental Belief #18
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and **WAS manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White **. As the Lord’s messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. (Joel 2:28, 29; Acts 2:14-21; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 12:17; 19:10.)

That sounds very similar to

2 Timothy 3,16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Now, if we move up the list of SDA fundamental beliefs we can see that #18 has just stated Ellen White’s texts…
…To be Scripture which is not included in the Canon.

SDA Fundamental Belief #1
The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God’s acts in history. (2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Tim. 3:16, 17; Ps. 119:105; Prov. 30:5, 6; Isa. 8:20; John 17:17; 1 Thess. 2:13; Heb. 4:12.)

Of course the caveat to all this is that the theological distinctives of Seventh-day Adventism were established via the Holy Spirit…
…“Moving Ellen White to write these things down” & of course therefore.
…“Ellen’s” words are CONTINUING and AUTHORITATIVE &
…Provide for the SDA Church comfort, guidance, CORRECTION & instruction.

Of course that fundamental belief also states the teachings of Ellen White make clear the Bible is the “standard” by which teaching is tested…
…Ellen also interprets the true meaning of Scripture so of course they say that.

Some examples:

Ellen White, Testimonies Vol 4, p 147
In ancient time God spoke to men by the mouth of prophets and apostles. ** In these days He speaks to them by the testimonies of His spirit**. There never was a time when God instructed His people more earnestly the He instructs them now concerning His will and the course that He would have them pursue. But will they profit by His teachings? Will they receive His reproofs and heed His warnings? God will accept no partial obedience; He will sanction no compromise with self."

Contrast this with Hebrews 1, 1 - 4.

Ellen White
When men venture to criticize the Word of God, they venture on sacred, holy ground, and had better fear and tremble and hide their wisdom as foolishness. God sets no man to pronounce judgment on His word, selecting some things as inspired and discrediting others as uninspired. The testimonies have been treated in the same way; but God is not in this." Selected Messages, Vol. 1, p. 23.

“The Testimonies” are code for the teachings of Ellen White.

Ellen White
If you seek to turn aside the counsel of God to suit yourselves, if you lessen the confidence of God’s people in the testimonies He has sent them, you are rebelling against God as certainly as were Korah, Dathan, and Abiram." Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 66

Ellen White
The Spirit fell upon** me and I** was taken off in vision. ** I** saw the state of some who stood on present truth, but disregarded the visions, -the way God had chosen to teach in some cases, those who erred from Bible truth. ** I saw that in striking against the visions they did not strike against the worm - the feeble instrument that God spake through; but against the Holy Ghost. I saw it was a small thing to speak against the instrument, but it was dangerous to slight the words of God. ** I saw if they were in error and God chose to show them their errors through visions, and they disregarded the teachings of God in visions, they would be left to take their own way, and run in the way of error, and think they were right, until they would find it out too late. Then in the time of trouble** I** heard them cry to God in agony - ‘Why didst thou not show us our wrong that we might have got right and been ready for this time’… He spoke through visions, and he gave you up to your own ways, to be filled with your own doings." 1849 Broadside Paper

General Conference statement on Ellen White
As Seventh-day Adventists we are uniquely fortunate in approaching this question. We are not left to find our way, drawing conclusions only from writings penned 19 centuries ago, which have come down to us through varied transcriptions and translations. Concerning inspiration, with us it is an almost contemporary matter, for we have a prophet in our midst… What is more, rather than having in our possession only relatively short documents or a handful of letters, as is the case with the extant records of the Bible prophets, we have the full range of Ellen G. White writings penned through a period of 70 years, embodying her published books, her 4,600 periodical articles, and her manuscripts, letters, and diaries. We have also the testimonies of her contemporaries - eyewitness accounts of those who lived and worked closely with her. Both she and they discussed many points touching on the visions and on the manner in which the light was imparted to her, and how she, in turn, conveyed the messages to those for whom they were intended. In other words, the eyewitnesses discussed the operation of inspiration… Further, she wrote in a modern language, so a large number of people today can study her writings in the original language, without needing to depend on a translation. Rarely, too, is it necessary to depend upon a transcription." - Inspiration and the Ellen G. White Writings, reprint, p. 3.

In other words, Scripture has authority which is “continuing” because it was God which moved the holy men of old…
…Ellen White’s texts are also continuing and have authority because the same “God” moved her to communicate her teachings.
…As her quotes demonstrate to ignore her is to instult God - the same as happened with Korah.

Based upon their legitimate Christian Trinitarian baptism, they are Christians, but are the only “restoration” or “adventist” faith of the three Made-in-USA faiths (SDA, LDS, JW) that can so claim. Their founders claimed to have received visions (except JW founder Charles Taze Russell), and I do not doubt that they did. From whom, though?

Yes, their Baptism is legitimate because of the correct phrasing…
…However they have poured in alien definitions of Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
…While retaining the established Names.

Ellen White, 1888 Great Controversy 493.1
Christ the Word, the only begotten of God, was one with the eternal Father,–one in nature, in character, and in purpose,–the** only **being in all the universe that could enter into all the counsels and purposes of God. By Christ, the Father wrought in the creation of all heavenly beings. “By him were all things created, that are in Heaven, . . . whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers;” [COL. 1:16.] and to Christ, equally with the Father, all Heaven gave allegiance. {GC88 493.1}
Signs of the Times:
3829 — The Holy Spirit n Personality?

Question:
Can’t we say that the Holy Spirit is a
personality, as long as the personal pronoun
is attributed to it? T. A. Z.

Answer:
The use of the personal pronoun** is not of itself proof that the Holy Spirit is a personality**, and yet the work of the Spirit is the work of a personality. By the Spirit both the Father and the Son come personally to every soul that receives the Spirit. In that wonderful sense which no human being can comprehend, the Spirit comes to each soul as a personality. And yet it does not have what we would call human personality of being in one place only at one time, that is, such personality as has our Lord Himself — in one place as He is in no other place. The Holy Spirit may be in any number of places at one and the same time, bringing the special presence of God in each of those places.** In the office of the “Signs of the Times” there are fourteen different telephones all connecting with the manager. The manager may connect all these with him at one and the same time. He could issue a general order so that the foreman of each department could hear his voice at the same time. In a way he is personally present in every department. Every department hears his voice. The marvelous invention of the telephone makes him present in fifteen different places at the same time**. So it is that God’s Spirit makes the Father and the Son present in as many different places as God may direct, at one and the same time. We know somewhat of the working. We understand how it is to some extent of the Lord’s ways and methods. We see the effects, but we know almost nothing of the nature and the power that Infinity uses to communicate with man. Let us be willing to leave it there. In some instances the Spirit is represented as the great life of God. In some it is spoken of as a power that is poured out and shed forth. To the individual it comes as the representative of the personal God. Therefore it may be spoken of as a personality, and looking at it from another view-point, as not a personality.
Revew and Herald:
Is God a Spirit?

Question:
If God is a spirit (John 4:24) and at the same time a person (Dan 7:9) would not the same reasoning prove that the Holy Spirit is a PERSON as referred to in John 4: 26?

Answer:
NO - For God is elsewhere described and represented as a Person; but the Holy Spirit is not. The fact that the Holy Spirit is personified John 14 and thus spoken of as acting in a personal and individual manner does NOT prove it to be a person any more than the fact that love is spoken of in 1 Cor 13 as performing certain acts and exercising certain emotions, prove that charity or love is a person.

Yes, their Baptism is legitimate because of the correct phrasing…However they have poured in alien definitions of Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

And, of course the “spirit” lead her (and now all of them) to attack, what, the Orthodox Church? No! The Catholic Church, of course. The major problem with them, for me, is that they equate St. Michael the Archangel with Jesus based solely on misinterpretation of a single verse. Thus, they have made Jesus a created being, just as St. Michael is. I have no idea how they overcome this, or overlook it.

That sends me to the moon as well!

From what I’ve been able to glean from their archived publications and prophet Ellen White…
…It’s a rather complicated but graspable teaching.

There is ONLY one God ( The Father ) who begat one Son ( Michael the archangel )…
…Michael was willed or exuded from the Father “in time” so that Michael is actually made of the Substance of the Father.
…Because Michael has God for his literal Father, Michael can properly be called God and Worshipped as such.
…Provided it’s understood Michael isn’t God in the ultimate sense.

Because Michael was made out of the Substance of the Father it can be said…
…"In Him ( Michael ) is life eternal, unborrowed, etc.
…It’s understood to mean ‘The Life of God’ which God invested in Michael.
…Which Michael can use and give to who He wants.

God ( remember only the Father is God ) created Lucifer out of Substance other than His ( God’s Own Substance )…
…And made Lucifer to be as close as possible to God without being “God”.
…I’m thinking the lack of the Substance of God is the reason - I’m still looking into this.

God has a rectum as did Michael & Lucifer the archangels as well as the other angels…
…This is the understanding of the term “Personality of God”. i.e. God has a body with all normal parts and organs of a man.
…Everything was in perfect harmony within the Govt of “God” at this time.

God determines He is going to “make man” and exalts Michael to such a degree that Michael…
…Is the ONLY being in the universe who can enter into the councils of God.
…As you know already from the quotes the Holy Spirit is NOT a personality / lacks a rectum.
…And of course is understood to be like a telephone conference call.

Lucifer the archangel gets very upset that Michael the archangel was exalted and consulted about the formation of man while he wasn’t…
…Eventually, after a period of time, Lucifer the archangel convinces a third of the angels in heaven.
…That God is unfair which after another period of time sparks a war in heaven.
…Michael the archangel leads the army of good angels to fight against Lucifer.
…Resulting in Lucifer being thrown out of heaven along with the fallen angels.

Lucifer gets Eve to eat the apple and by this act God becomes wounded because the law…
…Which SDA’s believe is the 10 commandments “IS” the character of God.
…A plan is put together for God’s Holy Law to be “vindicated”.
…And this seems to be the Great Controversy theme which is also a book.

Michael accepts the role and position of Christ and in so doing risked his future eternal existence and heaven itself was imperiled…
…As Ellen White said He could have sinned and could have fallen and had this happend.
…God would have killed Christ and annihilated him so that he would forever be as if he never was.

I don’t know how many hundreds of copies from their old publications I now have…
…But it’s a whole bunch and it all says what it says.
…I’ve been at this for years.

Further proof that some people will say anything, and others will believe anything. And they decry what they wrongly perceive as worship of Mary (a created being), while allowing worship of Michael (a created being). Some people just need to shut up and think!

/b no disrespect, but the catholic relgigion, is real satanic… Wanta know why? Msg. Me…

**** It is a shame that you will not be around long enough to learn the truth. Nevertheless, you remain a Christian brother - yet one who appears, at this time, unwilling to seek the truth.

May Christ’s peace be with you, and may the Holy Spirit enlighten your spirit. Amen.

Absurd!
So God isn`t immutable, omniscient or omnpotent (plus a few other attributes).
i thought the JW concept of God and Jesus was skewed; but this “takes the cake”!

Dont they have any idea of the nature of a spirit? They have no right to call themselves "Trinitarian". Someone should send em some copies of Frank Sheed`s “Theology and Sanity”.

The business about Lucifers getting upset lines up with a claim made in an SDA book titled "Your Bible and You" (Arthur S Maxwell). Theres an illustration of Lucifer (complete with wings), standing on some steps, and with a sour look on his face, as the Son passes by. The bit about the “councils of God” makes the illustration “fall into place”.

Somewhere in that book (Alas! i tossed it out during a fit of depression!), Maxwell says that all of those in Heaven will have plenty of material goods; and will be living in mansions. Nothing about the Beatific Vision. All purely physical.
They don`t have the slightest grasp of the reality of the spiritual realm.

i tried to read “The Great Controversy”; but had to give up because of the anti-Catholic venom. Maybe i should have another go at it, in the light of what you`ve posted.

You`ve “been at this for years.”.
Keep at it!

How much of this SDA doctrine is axailable online; or do they keep the most extreme stuff to themselves (like the Mormons) until their victims have been well and truly hooked?

Has the average SDA “in the pews” been taught all of that? But, your statement about having been at it for years (and the gleaning) makes It sound as though you have to be literally a detective to uncover their beliefs.

As I understand it they would be affirmative with all those things ( agree that God is immutable )…
…However only the Father is “God” in the ultimate sense from the period of pre-sin to the Resurrection.
…I’m certain they belive Jesus will be the same as God after the Sanctuary in heaven is fully cleansed.
…Now, according to Ellen White, Jesus is wearing “bells” on His Levitical vestments as he cleanses the Sanctuary in heaven.
…So “God” doesn’t kill Him.

As all Adventists groups they reject the belief that man’s spirit or soul continues on after death…
…They believe that once a person dies the soul enters a state whereas it’s like it never existed.
…Until the Resurrection where the soul comes back into the body and “wakes up”.

Yes, Ellen taught that Satan had “flesh” just the same as the Father & Son had flesh…

It’s been about 6 years and most of it has fallen into place over the last 12 months…
…The key was discovery that Ellen didn’t say anything contrasting the early Pioneers of SDAism.
…Once I realize that it was fairly easy to connect the dots.

It’s all there and here are the sources I’ve been using…

adventistarchives.org/DocArchives.asp

Simply use the search bar and type something like this “He is not God” or “personality of God”…
…You will find archived teachings which go back to 1849 when Ellen first started getting visions.

My guess is that the official SDA Church knows all about this far more in depth than what I’ve discovered…
…And that they are trying to move the SDA Church to a full Trinitarian denomination.
…But are having problems due to some of the statements Ellen made.
…I don’t think the general SDA has any idea about this.

Many thanks!
Just to push the friendship a bit more:
As I understand it they would be affirmative with all those things ( agree that God is immutable )…
He`s not immutable in the “eternal” sense of the word if He needs an advisor!
The Church teaches that God knows everything in one eternal act of knowing.
He IS, in the changelessness of eternity.
He IS, in one eternal act of “ISSING” (!)
He “everythings”, in one eternal act of “everythinging”.
Yes, Ellen taught that Satan had “flesh” just the same as the Father & Son had flesh…
But invisible? They don`t understand what a spirit is…

Its not the reference to mansions as such; but the total absence of reference to the Beatific Vision......its all about MATERIAL wealth. To them, Heaven is just an amplification of the good things of this life. They deny the spiritual element.

Absolutely, that’s exactly how I understand it as well - God simply ‘IS’…
…And Adventists groups affirm this ONLY they claim this ONLY applies to the Father.
…Because the Father is ONLY God in the ultimate sense.

Many people don’t realize this about them and it only becomes evident when someone outside the denomination…
…Questions them about the endless paradoxical statements made by their prophet.

Example: When questioned about Diety sinking and dying on the Cross Ellen was quick to affirm…
…It would be impossible for Diety to die YET she gloated that Michael the archangel risked His future eternal existence…
…By accepting the Role of Christ.
…Ergo - Michael the archangel ( Christ ) wasn’t DIVINE in Himself.
…Because Michael the archangel AKA Christ - risked His actual existence and God risked FOREVER LOOSING His Son.

It’s understood that the Son was simply a ‘husk’ and the eternal life the Father poured into the husk was the Father’s…
…Therefore the life eternal, unborrowed was the life of the Father who had INVESTED it in Christ ( His Son ).

SunnaB16:
But invisible? They don`t understand what a spirit is…
It appears not, I just discovered this approx 6 months ago in researching what Ellen meant by saying; "Personality of God’.
…And how it was the most important thing in the world for SDA’s.
…I’ll admit I was absolutely shocked when I realized what they meant by it.

This teaching is the foundation of the SDA Sanctuary doctrine which in turn is the superstructure…
…Of the Investigation Judgment doctrine or simply “I.J.” for short.
…All of the apologetics I could find in their archives during the life and ministry of Ellen White on the I.J. and Sanctuary.
…Were unanimous in this in a most feverish and violent way.

Ellen claimed to be shown in vision that Michael & Lucifer the archangel’s had bodies of flesh and claimed Christ told her God did as well…
…However she was not allowed to view God’s body.
…Because she was informed it would kill her.

They can’t and in my view are stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place…
…They are obviously trying to move the Church into full compliance with the Trinity.
…However they realize that a review of the teachings of Ellen White which are in union with the anti-Trinity Pioneers of SDAism.
…Are IMPOSSIBLE to reconcile with the Trinity.

This means to continue to hype Ellen White as a prophet they would have to dump the Trinity…
…It’s either that or repudiate their own prophet by admitting she was wrong that Christ wasn’t Diety IN THE SAME WAY the Father is Diety.

A couple more examples of the teachings of Ellen White…

Ellen White
The justice of God was now fully vindicated in his act of banishing from heaven the fallen angel who had once been exalted next to Christ. All Heaven, and the worlds that had not fallen by sin, had been witnesses to the controversy between Christ and Satan. With intense interest had they followed the closing scenes of the conflict

Ellen White
It was here that the mysterious cup trembled in his hand. It was here the destiny of a lost world was hanging in the balance. Would his human nature bear the strain? Would the sins of an apostate world, since Adam’s transgression to the close of time, be laid upon him? Would he drink the cup? Or would he wipe the blood drops from his brow, and cast from his soul the guilt of a perishing world, which was placing him, all innocent, all undeserving, under the penalty of a just law? Would he refuse to become man’s substitute and surety, refuse to give him another trial, another probation? It was not yet too late to refuse to drink that awful cup of suffering, the wrath of his Father against transgression. He might have said, "Let the wilful transgressor receive the penalty of his sin, and I will go back to my Father

What a question! Would The Son refuse the purpose of The Father?

Ellen White
Many of Satan’s sympathizers were inclined to heed the counsel of the loyal angels, and repent of their dissatisfaction, and be again received to the confidence of the Father and his dear Son. The mighty revolter then declared that he was acquainted with God’s law, and if he should submit to servile obedience, his honor would be taken from him. No more would he be intrusted with his exalted mission. He told them that himself and they also had now gone too far to go back, and he would brave the consequences; for to bow in servile worship to the Son of God he never would; that God would not forgive, and now they must assert their liberty and gain by force the position and authority which was not willingly accorded them.–1SP 20, 21. {TA 42.2}

It’s obvious, Lucifer and the other archangels had never before been required to worship Michael…
…And this was one order Lucifer got from God he wasn’t going to obey.
…The time hack of these events prove that God “invested” Christ with His own power in Ellen’s mind.
