Emasculation of the church in the states

Instead of repeating what I already said again, I’ll just point out what was stated already “women play an important roll in the church”, do not take this out of context and write into it what you have stated. I’m very Marian, when it comes down to it, one cannot be marian and against women, it’s just her position does not cover over, or replace her son’s position, yet her roll is very strong with the church. If you cannot get it, then you are one of the culprets that insist upon further emasculating the church itself. I’m not going to stand by and allow it to continue, and if it means going to extremes, then so be it. I specifically remember as it’s stated in the word, how women are to remain silent in church, how far have we ignored that one, it’s meaning may not necessary mean they are not to utter a word, but it’s meant that they are not to be in charge of the church. Just as a man cannot bear children, that is a womans job, a woman cannot lead the church, that is the mans job.

In my country, that wouldn’t be unusual at particular times of the year. Or uileann pipes, tin whistles and bodhran. So, perhaps I’m not well placed to appreciate the outrage.

First of all, I am currently not in church and I am not going to be silent. I am blessed with wonderful husband who is spiritual head of our household with 2 sons who serve at altar EVERY weekend.

I can bet that you have just been a WHINER up to this point and not been an active member. The reason women have been “taking over” as you put it, is because there are no MEN to fill their positions.
Perhaps you need to take a good hard look at those of your gender and blame them for abandoning their faith and not doing THEIR job. YOU need to be a MAN and take some personal responsibility.

I, too, like Palestrina and Tallis but my preference is for Anton Bruckner. But I have no problem with Irish traditional instruments and music at Mass either.

I guess I should just get over it. I mean, can’t we argue that one really hasn’t lived until they have gone to Mass and heard “On Eagles Wings” sung by a guy playing accordion and accompanied by some kid on the drum set.

Lets just have a polka Mass too.

We could rewrite the words to the beer-barrel polka and do the dance as well…

St. Johns leaves their doors open every single day, not a problem there, and they are just up the street.

Don’t care too much for female opinions on this matter, have had enough of them at my local parish, time for us guys to step up to the plate and do so without their “intevention” and control. I lead through example now, will trample the staff underfoot onto their higher up’s if I face too much flak in this process…

Off topic… SO that’s what that is… I have always loved the sound of the the uilleann pipe. I just presumed it was a bagpipe(in absolute ignorance). Thanks for the education.

We too use to leave our Church building open 24/7.

We had people sleeping in our pews, eating the food from our school lunch program and using the phone for long distance calls – all in the name of allowing people to POP into the church when they wanted.

That ended when our marble altars were broken, our sound system equipment was stolen and money was stolen.

Perhaps more men would work for the Church if they were to pay a living wage.

Even though the Church teaches living wage – they are not real great about paying them.

When I lived in the States - on the buckle of the Bible belt - music in our very orthodox parish was provided (most reverently) by dulcimers, fiddles and sometimes mouth bows.

I felt right at home

I think we should have Masses like this for every ethnic and regional group.

We can have Polish Polka Masses, we can have Italian Sinatra Masses… The possibilities are endless!!

I love Jazz, so we can follow the African Orthodox Church’s lead and have Coltrane Masses…

Can’t beat “St. John the Sound Baptist!”

And a rap Mass too!

Are you sure you posted this in the correct forum? Sounds like what goes on at a novus ordo faith community.

In traditional parishes, priests do all of the readings, distribute communion, etc., so it is never an issue to see a woman in the sanctuary.

Maybe you are just at the wrong type of church?

Being a traditional parish as nothing to do with offering the OF of the Mass. The are a lot of traditional parishes that offer both forms of the Mass. Tradition is mainly about true commitment to orthodoxy and not just to the EF. Quite a few of the so called “traditionalists” that use the EF would say that everybody recognizing the present Pope will burn in hell.
