Depends on which poll you look at.
I’ve seen some that indicate that people want family-friendly, God-centered entertainment, but don’t actually watch these types of movies and tv shows.
I’ve seen others that say that people want everything but family-friendly, God-centered.
I personally think that Hollywood is getting a mixed message from Christians. They put out a movie or TV show that they think will be great for the “Christian” audience, and then the Christian audiences gets all hissy-fitted about one little offensive thing, perhaps one swear word or a statement that sounds like it might be irreverent.
Evan Almighty is a great example. The U.S. Catholic bishops gave this movie a pretty good review, but Christians were terribly divided about it, and I think the movie kind of died.
I personally think the show The Unit is full of Christian values, but I don’t know of many Christians who actually watch it other than those who are in the military. Yet, I know lots of Christians who watch the show that’s opposite The Unit, which is House, a horrible adult fantasy that portrays doctors as temper-tantrum throwing egomaniacs. Now I must say that The Unit is about war, and that puts off many Christians. But it’s a war where GOD is included in the lives of those fighting it.
Hey, everyone, Hollywood seldom puts out a perfect product! I say, when they throw us a bone, let’s catch it and wag our tails and beg for more!

"Gee, what does Charlotte Church, with all the qualifications of having a beautiful voice and being possesed of some celebrity, have to say about the Pope of Rome? That sure would be an opinion I value!"

Honestly, I am not so much bothered or annoyed by these folks thinking these ignorant things - I would never sleep at night if I let people’s ignorance annoy me. I am more bothered and annoyed at how self-important they are, and how valuable they feel their opinion is.

As for Kathy… Gee, she won an Emmy for her (8-week long cable TV reality) show.
Well, poor thing, she is just not very funny. Having seen her work, it is kind of sad, she mostly panders to the sterotypical “San Francisco Gay” crowd… When you are not very funny, the next best thing is to be very rude, very crude, very vulgar or a combination of all three.
I used to think that sort of “in-your-face” commedy was funny… when I was 13.
