Oh, they are still Catholics, even if they aren’t properly catechized. At least, that’s what everybody tells me!! In fact, at least one person (thinking…make that three or four, actually) has told me that Glenn Beck is still a Catholic, whether he likes it or not.

They’re CINOs ( Catholics in name only ). And sorry to disagree with them Catholics, but he’s no longer considered a Catholic, nor is anyone else who leaves the Church. I don’t know who told them, and you, that fairy tale.

If someone leaves the LDS are they still considered of the LDS Church? Shalom.

They are, unless they formally request that their names be taken off the roles. They may not consider themselves so, and they may have found a new faith and consider themselves to be something else. However, as long as they can become active again without needing baptism, then they are still LDS.

I do believe that Catholics have a very similar policy–though I am receiving conflicting information about whether it is possible to ‘resign’ from the Catholic church, once having been baptised.

Ah, so that’s why Mormons and Catholics like each other so much: both believe Jesus intended to establish a Church on Earth.

i really feel stupid. but im still having trouble understanding what all this emergent business is about in the first place. is it the latest protestant fad? like the 60s lets be Jesus freaks maaaan. pass the…or like the 80s? lets get Radical for Jesus! and have some preppy get up and give some nice pep talk. (ok so i dont care for them. sue me!) after all the fads and fasions, its so nice to know One Church stands strong and does not bend to the will of the world, to “meet peoples spiritual needs.” there is still One Church that is still working to make sure Her people are ready to meet their God. and be ready when Christ comes again. i thank God emergent “christianity” has not found an in road into the Catholic Church. i dont really get it, but we have enough problems without it. Peace p.s. oh yes. i do like the Mormons.

They are responsible for the whereabouts of the kids while they are under their care, yes…but as far as I’m aware, nobody is going to be suspended from school if they ditch seminary (but stay on the approved grounds). At least, my son wasn’t. He got into trouble with ME, but not with the school.

I never meant that a kid would be suspended from school for ditching seminary…??? They get in trouble for ditching any classes including seminary.

(edited addendum…) Oh, and if the kid can choose not to register, then attendance is voluntary by definition, isn’t it?

No. Registration is voluntary. Attendance during the schoolday is mandatory.
