With all the things that are going on in this world does anyone really beleive that it’ll only be around for maybe 100 yrs or so. Maybe even less than that.

It depends on what you mean by “the world,” I think. If you mean Western culture in its current state of degradation and decay…no I don’t think it will survive another hundred years. If you’re talking about God’s decision to end time as we know it…we can’t know that and I doubt his decision had anything to do with whether or not we’ll be depleting fossil fuels anytime soon. I do think that He has in mind certain things that have to come to pass, but I don’t know what those things are and I doubt He’d share that information with any of the rest of us.

The end of the world probably looked MUCH closer to the folks around at the time of the early persecutions than it could EVER seem to us at this point in history.

But that’s not your job, as a Catholic, anyway,… so don’t worry about it. Stay cheerful ‘cause you know what you’re s’pposed to be doin’…!

Just keep trying not to sin, and get cleansed and fed regularly. You KNOW what I mean by that, right…!? Good.

so what? I’ll be dead by then. It makes not one bit of difference when the world ends, what does matters is the state of my soul so that I may be ready to die in a state of grace whenever and however God chooses to claim my life back.

Who really knows?

What matters most is if you are in a state of grace when it happens. Most often, the end of the world comes “like a thief in the night,” like a car crash, stroke, accident, or some other wham-you-are-dead sort of way. No grand sweeping prophesies, no fireworks, no drama…just “poof” - you are dead.

Well, this is the “end times”,… silly…! Has been since Jesus made His appearence on our lovely stage.

But actually, Mirdath and I agree on quite a few things. Such as how amazingly inventive mankind is in making simple things complicated.

We just listen to very different authorities for our definitions of “simple”,… and “complicated”.

We just need to “flip” Mirdath into believing the believable, instead of the “obvious”.

What are the odds…?!

The end of the world to me is the Return of Christ - The Second Coming. Even St. Paul at one point forecasted this was immanent and later on changed that - and so has every generation since (thought the world was in such a dreadful state it meant the end of the world). We still wait and as it says in The Mass: “as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ”. Jesus Himself said that even He did not know the date of His Return and that it was only known by The Father. Live in Joyful, Grateful Peace…and leave all administrative details to The Father

People have been looking for the end of the world ever since the Ascension.

Does it really matter when the end of the world comes ? Do you really want to be around when it does end ?

For each of us we have our own ends to recond with. Whether it is today, next year or in a hundred years it comes soon enough.

IF you are prepared, it does not matter whether the world ends during your life time or not.

I would raher have it end much further down the road, I would like to see grandchilden and God willing, great grand children, though that is becoming less and less likely.

Thats what my Priest said Sunday in his homily, if it meant to stop the 4,000+ abortions a day that are “offered to the demon moloch”. He said even if he himself wasn’t ready for heaven. Earlier in the week, someone pulled a knife on him while robbing the poor box in the church. Our Priest was armed with a handgun and “persuaded” him to stop the attack result in the thief’s arrest. Our Church doors are locked. We either have to make an appointment to access the Church for about an hour or we have to simply go early before Mass when the doors are opened a half hour before Mass or stay a little longer after Mass to spend precious minutes with Jesus before the Blessed Sacrament. That is why I decided to send my Guardian Angel on long all night vigils before the Blessed Sacrament on my behalf to pray there and love and adore Jesus for me because I cannot get this access to Jesus in His Real Presence. I go to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament often in spirit and ask Him to come to my soul spiritually everyday.

Our doors are locked with good reason, they have robbed and vandalised the Church, they have urinated before the Blessed Sacrament, these things just cannot simply be allowed by leaving open access to the Church. We have a duty to protect the Blessed Sacrament and God’s House. Youths hang about outside the Church and harrass the Sacristan, they threaten them and try and scout about at the back of Church for things to steal. I was once doing some renovation work to some statues one day in Church and was doing this in the Sacristy. The Sacristan came in upset, some youths had given her a bad time; I hadn’t heard or seen anything being all the way back where I was and felt guilty I had not been there to help her. I was locked into the Church alone to finish my work. It’s very sad. I was glad to spend this entire afternoon with Jesus as I worked. Jesus is left alone in His Real Presence for so many lonely hours.

Your Priest is right, these are strange times. There is no sense of the Sacred and no sense of sin, anything goes and the self is what people think of either addicted to greed, power, sex, substances or possessions.

Tell your Priest to be careful and give him my love and tell him he and all Priests are continually in my Living Prayer.

These are definitely “strange” times. Our Churches all around us are locked up tight, but Thank The Lord, we have had enough people to start some short Adoration Hours. It seems to me, (don’t want to be overly dramatic) that the evil that is escalating is like an avalanche, keeps going faster. Anyone who cannot see that in this day and age that we are in a monumental spiritual war is as blind as a bat. (spiritually speaking) Put on the armor of God People!

We have to pray, pray, pray in the words of Our Blessed Mother. Pray for our church, our priests, Bishops, Cardinals, pray for the conversion of the world, daily. These strange times may last however for many many years, only God knows.

Our job is: To get to Heaven and to pray as many people there as possible.

We are a Faith people, living in “joyful hope” (The Mass). The Lord will never send more than we can bear and His Grace is ever with us. Existence at times has been marked by overwhelming tragedy - eg: The First and Second World Wars. God’s Direct and Permissive Will is ever with us and triumphs always in Good and Goodness. If we are going to be prophets of doom and gloom then where is the “Good News” we bear?
In the Office of Readings daily there is often a reading from one of the Fathers of The Church who were awaiting martyrdom - I am always stunned and awed by the great joy that lived in them though facing a terrible death.

“Thou art Peter The Rock, and on this Rock I will build My Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it”. “Behold, I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world”.
Difficulties, even great difficulties and sufferings may come along and God’s Grace and Strength comes with them…hence we live on in our Peace and our Joy.
A very wise and holy priest once said to me “God will not give you The Grace to deal with your imagination (of the future), but at the time His Grace will be with you”. Father was right.
Really dreadful things can happen in this world, overwhelmingly dreadful things and it saddens and it grieves, yet our Peace and our Joy is in Christ…Truly Man and Truly God Who Is Transcendant Mystery. This is not just a pious platitude on my behalf - it is a Living Reality.

If no-one can steal your peace then you have the peace of Jesus and nothing can touch the core of who you are no matter what is happening all around you.

If no-one can steal your joy, then you are Catholic, because your constant source and summit of your joy is the Eucharist, Christ Jesus. The true joyous Easter people.

This doesn’t mean evil is not increasing in the world, it simply means evil is not increasing in you, but decreasing by the grace of Christ Jesus.

To the OP- Even if the world ended in the next five minutes, what good would speculation do? There would be no way to stop it, if it is truly of God. When God calls the game, that’s it.
