Yes and No…

We are close to the End times, but first must come the Illumination, which will be followed by the Chastisement or Purification. After this the whole world will be Catholic Then as in every time since the Old Testament, another rebellion will occur. As the whole world will be Catholic, this will be “The Great Apostasy”, which will result in the Anti-Christ. I recommend two books:

“The Rapture Trap” by Paul Thigpen;

“The Miracle of the Illumination of All Consciences” by Thomas W. Petrisko

So Yes we are near the end-times, but No because other events must occur.

So if Jesus said that His coming will be as a theif in the night, and when we least expect it, what makes anyone think He’s going to come soon , when everybody seems to be expecting it?
Take a look at Matt 24:32-33

32 'Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.
33 So with you when you see all these things: know that he is near, right at the gates.

I think the thief in the night reference refers to those who are not looking forward to His return, not His followers.

Well, I got it…and liked it. But then, it’s 3 AM, so maybe tired mind’s think alike? 😛

Who was St. Malachy?
Thank you for the compliment. I just joined this forum last week so pretty new to proper presentation and etiquette here and am learning but nice to hear something good after having post declared most unreadable in history. Go figure. A Catholic Forum.
Anyway, here’s a link from Catholic Online as to who St. Malachy was catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=4431.
Suffice it to say that I’ve noted on Catholic News websites prominent Catholic writers having to respond to their kids asking about the saint’s, perhaps unfounded, prophecies of all the remaining popes ending with Peter the Roman. But then again, one is not sanctified based on mysticism and prophecy in the Church (and this included Padre Pio).
And thank you to juliamajor for kind words. I’ll work on my typing alignment.
God Bless!

One thing about the so called St. Malachy prophecies. they didn’t appear until way after Malachy died. His contemporaries never wrote anything about them. there first appearance was around 1530ish., about 300 years after Malachy. Most scholars believe they are a forgery.the funny thing about them is they are considered prophetic AFTER the fact so the description is often painfully forced into the oracle. I remember before JPII that the prediction of ( i think it was labora Solis but I ain’t positive) the next pope , from the oracle, would b probably be black.! of course we got a Pole so it was contrived to make that fit as many of Nostradamus’s Quatrains are made to fit every event that happened. Dubious at best.

WOE TO PREGNANT WOMEN AND NURSING MOTHERS.

Christ says…

19 Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days. Matthew 24:19.

These words are almost universally mistakenly viewed as words of pity for women “in the delicate state.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Without exception, every other time the gospels place the Greek word *ouai * or “woe” in Jesus’ mouth, it is a threat. See Matthew 11:21, 18:7, 23:13, 23:14,
23:15, 23:16, 23:23, 23:25, 23:27, 23:29.

Why in heaven’s name would Jesus threaten pregnant women and nursing mothers?

Simple: Because he’s talking about women who should be pregnant or who should be nursing, but for abortion!

The pro-choice movement itself is an end times sign!
How about this… I am a nursing mother. I was at a Confirmation party. The uncle of the confirmed is a practicing Homosexual in a multi-partner relationship. When my infant (who was 4.5 months at the time) started crying to be nursed, one of his partners commented, “Are you going to whip that out right here? Just imagine what these 13 year old boys are going to go home and tell their parents if you do.” Talk about BACKWARDS!

Yes, I didn’t want to get overly verbose but on Malachy that is absolutely right, probable forgery. Now we’re in the reign of the “Glory of the Olives”, which I recall some believed back in the 90s around JP2’s time would be his successor the (now) late Cardinal Lustiger of France because, so the wags had it, the Cardinal was of Jewish descent and the olive once represented Judea. Admittedly fun stuff, but not to be taken seriously. I merely recall one ordained priest once having a talk on this and mentioning how, if one looked at all the statues of popes, saints on top of the Vatican there was only room for two more.
I was at the Vatican. Suffice it say I did not manage to look. Totally forgot, and rightfully so. Fun stuff but not to be taken seriously.

Hate to tell you but the Muslim almost took over the West completely and would have dismantled Christianity… Look at Spain at the time of the Moors… As far as perversions and indulgences they have been around since time beginning of time…And speaking of the Roman Empire many believed with the barbarians eating away at the empire that the Second Coming was coming.! It was really an end to the world as they knew it.
See, that’s what I was referencing. That little bit of Islamic expansion. And, even after that, what with the Ottoman empire, and the Turks invading from every-which corner.

So I guess, throughout all of history then, there have been Jack van Impe’s in the forums, and plazas, and nowadays, on televisions.

Ooooh, I dont envy the fellow who has to decide which ones to take down in order to make room for the newer ones!

There are eight signs and five amplifications. You are making up a new end time sign that is not in the text. Christ is not talking to women who shoud be pregnant or nursing. He is showing pity for the ones who are.

Jesus turned to them and said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children, for indeed, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.’ (Lk 23:28-29)

Jesus is concerned that nothing delay his followers from fleeing Jerusalem after the eighth sign. Because there won’t even be enough time to go back into the house for belonging, escaping will be particularly difficult on pregnant and nursing mothers who will be slowed by their children. So difficult they will wish they were without child.

Islam is going to play a big part in end times prophecies as our Lord did say that false prophets would surface and resurface. In Europe, France especially, one can see what is happening there. Churches are empty and mosques are surfacing by the dozens everywhere. Christianity is making way for islam. Don’t think so?
Then watch this video presentation by clicking on the link below. It will show how irreversible it is for France and other countries to become an islamic state not too far in the future.

May the peace of Christ be with you now and always.

A good argument can be made that the End Times are occurring now.

Though Christ said that we can’t know the day or hour of the end, itself, He gave us certain signposts of its near approach.

What I say here is my opinion, only. The question is, Is the opinion correct?

THE LEAFING OF THE FIG TREE.

Christ said,

32 "Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.
33 In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Matthew 24:32-33.

We know from various verses in the Bible that the fig tree and its parts are the symbol for Judaism, the Jewish people, their leaders, and their nation Israel. For example, see Jeremiah 24:5, 8.

Consistently, immediately after the cleansing of the temple, Jesus curses the fig tree, and it withers, Matthew 21:19-20, anticipating the fall of Judaism and its replacement by Christianity.

There is an appearance, therefore, that when Christ says that the “leafing of the fig tree” is a sign that He is “even at the gates,” He is referring to the reestablishment of Israel by the U.N. in 1948.

The Fundamentalists appear right on this one.

THE ABOMINABLE DESTRUCTIVE THING ON HOLY GROUND.

Christ also said,

15 “When you see the abominable destructive thing spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing on holy ground (let the reader take note),
16 then those in Judea must flee to the mountains,…” Matthew 24:15-16.

If anything in the history of man qualifies as an abominable destructive thing, it’s a nuclear weapon.

coloradoright.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/nuclear_blast.jpg

Where is there a nuclear weapon on holy ground?

How about Israel’s nuclear arsenal? Israel is believed to have about 100 nuclear weapons.

WOE TO PREGNANT WOMEN AND NURSING MOTHERS.

LIKE SODOM

Christ also said…

28 Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;
29 on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all.
30 So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed. Luke 17:28-30.

Is the comparison with Sodom a coincidence, or was there purpose to it?

In 2003, in the case of Lawrence v. Texas, the Supreme Court struck down sodomy laws in the United States. Additionally, more and more states and countries are approving of homosexual marriage. Additionally, the churches have even opened the pulpit to active homosexuals, and the sexual misbehavior of priests in the Catholic Church is clearly a homosexual problem – about 80% of the victims are post-pubescent young males.

THE GREAT FALLING AWAY.

Paul foreshadows another pre-end sign, in 2 Thessalonians…

1 We ask you, brothers, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling with him,
2 not to be shaken out of your minds suddenly, or to be alarmed either by a “spirit,” or by an oral statement, or by a letter allegedly from us to the effect that the day of the Lord is at hand.
3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For unless the apostasy comes first… 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3.

Apostasies have occurred through history. Therefore, Bible commentators by-and-large conclude that Paul would not have referred to such a thing unless he had a particularly enormous apostasy in mind. So, Paul’s pre-End apostasy is referred to as The Great Falling Away.

Christ cannot lie!

Mark 13: 32 “But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.33* Take heed, watch and pray; * for you do not know when the time will come. 34* It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch. 35* Watch therefore–for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning-- 36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. 37 And what I say to you I say to all: Watch.”

Rev.3: 3 "Remember then what you received and heard; keep that, and repent. If you will not awake, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you. "

For 2000 years folks have been asking “when.” If God wanted us to know He would have told us, but He did exactly the opposite! God cannot lie:thumbsup:
