Simple answer is yes if THEY (personally) are the ones doing the “predicting”.

But since the “end times” started when Christ died and rose, they are obviously rather bad at it.

Here is some information on the Left Behind series, also here and here.

This stuff has been around for many decades now and has made millions, so somebody is buying this material, yet when asked here…the silence is deafening… If people hold these beliefs then they should be willing and able to defend them…right?

I don’t need to defend my beliefs, just gently share them with those that maybe open to them or help me correct them.

People can attack me and what i believe but the cant harm me or change the truth so nothing to defend.

It would be nice for people to accept your invitation to speak about left behind, if ya have a good thing share to all who ask.

Well i read the report by Jimmy Akin,

it seems to be a sad story.

The concept of witting stories of biblical understanding is an exciting concept.

It is a huge danger to misrepresent the books in modern media as we already have so much trash in our modern life to sift out.

As a family we listened to an audio show called Afabel, it was very close to the book and the family enjoyed it.

It did not renew my daughters interest in a faith life unfortunately.

I doubt you will get many if any takers of people that believe these books to speak.

How do you know it is that Jesus comes and gets us? Why not the Blessed Mother or any of the saints? I personally think none of us are worthy to see the face of Christ when we die. This is what purgatory is to me. We will all go to purgatory before we even see the face of Jesus.

Yep, “modern media”. I suspect, that a lot of this nonsense is profit driven and not theologically based. I also find it interesting, how re-visions and re-writes are necessary to keep this stuff going.

Aren’t they the forbidden "False Prophets?

I don’t think so. Christ said we wouldn’t know the exact time. But he did say we would be able to see the signs of the times and that we should be ready. There is an end times radio program around here which says the next Pope will be the anti-Christ. I reject that, but it is not hard to look at what is happening in the Middle East and see things which might portend the second coming of Christ. Actually, there are several people I can see right now who have the potential to be the anti-Christ besides the next Pope! I tend to see Islam as being the religion that is most likely to supply the anti-Christ – even if they have to disguise him as a Christian.

Though, there is, and will be, no single anti-Christ, but his name will be legion, which will seem to win, then be humbled.

I just hope the humbling doesn’t take too long.

Why them, & not Catholics too, who were playing this game long before the Reformation ? Catholics make such predictions now; Protestants may be better-known for doing this, but they certainly aren’t alone.​

I would like to know, from YOU, why you think it is “witchcraft or soothsaying” when any individual who notes similarities to the world they live in today with God’s prophetic Word on the end times.

If I tell someone that the currant regathering of Israel back in the land is fulfilling of Gods prophecy, and use Ezekiel 36 and 37 for proof, am I soothsaying or into witchcraft? How about a “false prophet” you speak of?

I can’t believe I’m falling for this, but…

I think it depends on your definition of “predictions”. Are we talking setting dates or are we talking about chronological clues from the prophets that we try to piece together that are time oriented?

Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah and the book of Revelation give chronological clues in their books about the end times, not to mention the books of Peter, Thessalonians, etc. This will happen first, then this and so on. Eschatology is a valid study that is done by both Catholics and Protestants. I guess I need more information on where you are going with this.

Hello Mystic Warrior,

People in the Bible who predict future events are prophets. I asked this question because I think that it is a real problem. It is widely known, especially in Evangelical and Fundamentalist circles that this type of thing occurs today, regularly. It has become a multi-million dollar industry; the “Left Behind” series is a good example of this.

I believe this is cause by the errant, Protestant belief in "personal interpretation”. Not only are there Christian organizations cashing-in, on “End Time” materials but it seems to me that every other Protestant Christian, thinks he or she has the ability to predict future events to some extant, based on their own personal interpretation of the bible, am I wrong?

Do you or others here believe that these people are modern day prophets? Do you or anyone else here know, or personally met anyone who has done this. Have you, or anyone else here, seen (on TV or elswhere) or read about “End Time” predictions?

I find it amazing that with all of the interest in this “End Time” stuff that more here aren’t commenting on it, now why is that?
