Can I ask though please that we stay on topic about the Duplex idea, and not about the length of my engagement I’m not dismissing what people have said, and I’ll definitely read over everything with my fiance, and discuss things with her, but thats just not the purpose of this thread.

But discussing the length of the engagement does impact the advice on getting both duplexes and signing a long term lease for both. If you shorten your engagement, you could sign a long term lease on ONE duplex and ask for a short term lease on the other one or find another place to rent for a short tem. That’s MY advice. Shorten the engagement instead of locking yourselves into two long term leases on both duplexes. You’ll save money in the long run.
